I'm 70, but this is one of the most important videos I've ever watched! Thank you!

Amazing. First time in my life I hear Niklas Luhmann talking in English.

One thing I really like about this is the way it's a scientific theory or perspective and it is in its scientific mode extremely efficient. And it holds its own explanatory possibilities why it fails to enter the scientific environment. I've tried to explain about Luhmann to family, friends, colleagues, and not that I'm good at understand Systemtheorie but to transport the gist of it and they all said it was much too theoretical even philosophical. And yes, it is that's its one particular strength. But none of them understood that if it were a Politik choice I would have tried to explain thoroughly or perhaps explain the delightful way in which an artist captures movement in his or her paintings, they would have probably been thrilled and see all the possible implications for humanity and society and how this changes things and so forth. Funny. Funny how science often fails to be recognized as a tool to produce further scientific research and one day someone very smart or lucky would find the number one practical transition to make it blow up. Things, that worked accordingly at least to my understanding - Einsteins theory of relativity and Heisenbergs quantum basics have produced a whole industry several decades later which bring us entertainment and have altered the efficiency of mass media drastically - Darwins evolutionary theory got the understanding that things are ever changing and that exploitation determines or leads to closure from a vast part of possibilities yet creating new ways and needs to keep things running. Of course that's very simple for matters as big as they are but I like the idea that practicability lies within the questioners capabilities as well as within the offered solution

i love this guy - modernise all these function systems - so that they support each other - assumes surplus money allocation to truth discover and exact information.

Well said! If only he gave more English language lectures to ultimately commit to the internet.

Specific categorisation and function categorisation (what is x and how does x function) changed how people perceived time (when it came to area like love for example) The idea of good and bad was banned in heaven. Doesn't like the idea of making these distinctions
