Lower difficulties are often surprisingly hard in musical games. But Rocksmith specifically... it's quite hard to get used to the "colors mean different strings". It just doesn't map very well to how people usually note down music, or how people _play_ a guitar. It's not too bad for single notes or things like power chords, but you just don't get a good view of what you're supposed to do, and the fretboard doesn't help much either. I also have trouble keeping up with the position changes - it isn't quite visible enough where you're supposed to play. Fret number would work so much better for orientation.

To be honest i had a very hard time with the game. I tried it when i was in my early learning and got confused by everything. Like the easy lessons would be showing you some techniques, different variations. And then out of fucking nowhere they make you play a song that has all these techniques while adding new strings you didn't train with... one of my biggest issues was changing strings/frets fast but it's like the game expected the techniques to be the hard part... while it's more about using several in a quick succession. I found the game cool but i'd often be disgusted by what it expected from you while the difficulty felt extremely unbalanced. Now that I am way more comfortable with my guitar (it's been 6 months si ce i started) i've been planing to play it again but honestly it acted more as a deterrent to me, like the expectations the game had from me just made me feel like there was something wrong with me

Rocksmith took me from just being able to play song riffs to being able to play complete songs, including solos. But there is one big caveat. Its note detection mechanism as great as it is gets you to play on the back beat and staccato, and you have to grow outside of the game to improve upon that. But riff repeater is a wonderful tool because of the feedback you get from playing, something you just don't get with tabs and a metronome, only your ear will tell you if you get it or not, and sometimes your ear is more forgiving than the game 😉

I find I can learn a song way faster through tab than Rocksmith even though I'm decent at it. The fact everything goes by so fast means I treat it like sight reading so I don't actually retain what Im playing, with just looking at a tab for 20 minutes I'll have it
@MrBX54 жыл бұрын
@@ClikcerProductions I agree with that. I really liked Rocksmith and played alot of it in my first year and half of playing guitar, but at some point I realized I had to stop trying to learn songs through it because I noticed that I didn't actually remember anything when it was time to play them on my own.

May have been mentioned, but you can invert the screen so it looks more like tabs, it actually becomes very similar to reading and playing off tabs. Default has high notes (purple// high e string) up higher, which is the reverse to how you would read tabs. Maybe that'll help? I had to flip it too in order to learn off it properly.

Some tips: - In "Learn a Song" mode you can't fail - You can turn on "Override to Max" somewhere in the setting, with that the "Learn a Song" will display all the notes instead of showing only a few notes (cause some people will find it harder to learn the song without seeing all the notes) - You can use Riff Repeater (press space when playing a song on the Learn a Song mode), with it you can loop the section you want to practice and slow down the song to learn it

The best way to learn songs in-game is using the Riff Repeater with max difficulty, so it shows all of the notes, then slowing down the song until you really grasp the riffs. Speed it up over time until you can nail the whole thing at 100% speed and difficulty. Magic.

Excellent! Subbed for more Rocksmith content. The real magic happens when you pick a really hard part on Learn a Song and use riff repeater with a lower speed and gradually increase said speed, repeating the riff over and over. And then, just like that (and sooner than you expected), you've mastered the riff! This game is what got me into Bass. Really loving it! (It also has a simulated bass mode if you don't have one)

I cried laughing at this! A dude who shreds like a god on actual guitar, struggles at this game just as much as me. Honestly, the biggest issue with it is that you gotta pay attention to the colored blocks instead of playing the shit you wanna play
@sonavagun92834 жыл бұрын
The best way to learn with rocksmith is to go to Learn a song and put the difficulty all the way up so you get all the notes right away and then slow the song down to around 50 or 60% speed depending on your skill. Nobody learns a song at full speed right away using half the notes. And pay attention to the notes and chords you are playing. The goal is to be able to play the songs without looking at the screen so dont use the screen as a crutch. Use the screen as needes and no more. It is very important to do this or you will not learn anything from rocksmith. There is a big difference between learning how to play a song on the guitar and actually learning how to play guitar. It took me months to realize this. Rocksmith can be very helpful and rewarding in this way. Use it as a visual guide not as a game.
