the rest of the comments here are speaking of how beautiful/calming this animation is- and it is, of course- but there's something about the background here that sticks with me. it's a dreary skyline, far less interesting than the refuge or niko's home village. niko looks a bit older in this video than in the game, as well. perhaps, then, they moved? if that's the case, it calls to attention the clover image, and the background music- really, each aspect of this animation calls forth the idea of niko thinking, in some capacity, about the world of oneshot. despite having moved this far away from it all, they can't quite get away from the memories, and that saddens me far more than I expected.

Thank you for the genuine comment. Great analysis! That is exactly what I was going for. If you look at some of my other ambient oneshot loops, the Nikos I draw are post-solstice Niko who is growing up in their world but will always remember the events of oneshot. Both Niko and the player will move on with their mundane lives. They'll go about their days, experiencing new things and becoming new people. Their paths diverge. Time will pass. Memories will grow distant and fade. But even if memories wither, who we are, what our experiences forged, does not; we are shaped by our histories. Niko will never forget the player, and what they did for them, and (hopefully) neither will the player forget Niko. Just as we remember oneshot through fan content, Niko remembers the player through reminders - a clover here, a well-worn scarf there - and so the memory will never disappear.

This feels comforting and brings a smile to my face, I just recently beat the game and I feel sad but at the same time feel happy for niko where ever she may be. Oneshot is truly a special game and I don't think I'll be able to experience it all again like the first time I played. I truly miss niko but the simulated recordings are enough to make me smile here and there as I reminisce the memories of my previous playthroughs even if it makes me feel sad that I won't see niko again. I truly hope she lives a good life that little bugger.

I like the rain. The sound it makes when it hits my window. It just makes me stop and think about stuff. Oneshot is one of those games that shaped me as a person. It was just a short puzzle game and yet so much more. Niko helped me out in life too. I was super depressed at the time I played the game. She was kinda like that one person that helped me keep going forward in life. Eventually I just forgot about the game. I- I'm so happy I played it. I was like dead inside back then. But I got to experience big emotions again. I'm literally crying while writing this, but it's a good thing. It's what makes us human. I just found this little animation again and want to thank you for making me experience that same feeling that I felt when I first played the game. Thank you.
