no for real the bird theory is a solid one. when my cat died i drank myself to near black out everyday for like 8 months straight. it was bad. i come from a very bad home , and to top it off they never taught me about death. im 23 still never been to a funeral. so when my cat passed it was somewhat of a spiritual explosion. i had to find my faith in something again , nearly lost my marriage , nearly killed myself and it was mostly my fault for not looking to my supports. if nick has no support....he might still be in that downfall after his explosion.

Nikocado himself does not deserve pity as he has gained a great level of material wealth at the cost of his health. He has the means to get professional help and chooses not to seek it. However, his journey is a text book case of how improper recovery from restrictive eating disorders can cause binge eating disorders. Nick was hospitalized for malnutrition because he was was struggling with restriction. His close encounter with death by starvation allowed him to justify eating to excess because “at least he’s eating”, but the brain was really just translating the need for control and emotional comfort into bingeing instead of restricting. This happens to many people who struggle with restrictive EDs and can also occur inversely with binge eaters “fixing the problem” by restricting calories excessively. It’s very easy for those who suffer with EDs to slip into new disorders during recovery because the brain is already primed to view food in wildly polar, “all or nothing” ways. Know that if you are struggling with an E.D. and can’t obtain professional or in person treatment, you are not alone and there are methods to assist you’re recovery journey including removing triggers from your environment, seeking pro recovery web communities, and trying your best to implement a level of intuitive eating.
