Harder than going gray has been the thinning of my hair, especially on the top, coupled with a receding hairline. My comfort is having few wrinkles at 72, other than marionette lines bracketing my mouth. It's unfair that men are considered distinguished looking as they age, but aging women are viewed with shudders. So thank you, Nikol, for rallying us to "age fiercely!" ☺️

Same here, the pandemic has forced me to let my hair grow long. I thought, o boy this isn’t going to be good. I also have EXTREMELY curly hair, and I’ve been letting go grey for quite a few years. I can honestly say this is the first time in my 74 years that I am happy with my hair. I just let it dry on it’s own and have the most amazing ringlets. And have received many compliments on it. Started wearing makeup again, feeling much better about myself. Love your videos, thank you so much 😘

Hi Nichol! I am so thankful for this video!! I am 66 with long hair that is champagne in color all natural. When I decided to let my hair grow and grow I felt really good about myself. I finally felt like I could do anything. My hair has a lot more waves than I thought it did. Always hated curly hair and always striving for straight hair. Well guess what....not anymore. I wash it about once a week, let it air dry and my husband loves it. He always telling me how beautiful my hair is. I can do so much with it too. As my face changed I realized my longer hair actually looks better for me plus not hassle no fuss! Love it

I re-watched this video. The first time, I was 4 mos. into growing out my gray and now I am two weeks from a year(!) and love my gray LONG hair. I'm one of those women who always felt that the condition of my hair worsened with color-it seemed to get frizzier and required a lot more work to look styled. Now, I have my hair back; so much regrowth around the crown and when I let it air dry, the gray section is sleek. This has been a terrible year so I don't want to downplay that at all but it teach me to be more authentic and not fret about how I look or looking younger. You and these wonder ladies have served as inspirations for me. Thank you so much. Be well. Victoria

Actually, my hair is longer now because of the quarantine, and I like it. And here in Spain, where I live, we can have quite high temperatures, so I prefer my hair to be longer, so I can just roll it up and attach a clip. By the way, everybody keeps telling me they love my grey hair, especially women, but, when it comes to stop colouring, they don't dare.

I am 66 and I am growing my hair out. It is turning grey, it is very thick, it is naturally curly, and I want to, like you Margee, see what it looks like, and feel the weight of it. I can always cut it, but I don't want to miss this opportunity. I haven't had long hair since I was a teenager. I have no idea how to style it, but I will have fun experimenting. I had to come back here again and comment on going dye free. I had an experience recently with a woman I met for lunch whom I hadn’t seen in a year and who was just appalled that I had gone dye free and my naturally light blonde is now silver, platinum, and even some dark going through it. She was, well all I can describe it as is “angry” that I was doing this! She is considerably older than I and goes in every 4 weeks to cover her silver. It’s not in ANY way helping her look any younger, but I, of course, kept MY thoughts to myself even after her attack. She did not. She went off. Crinkled face action saying, “Oh I will never do that!!” “You’d look 15 years younger if you went back to blonde!” And the WORST comment, “If (my husband) is saying he likes it, he’s lying to you!!” OK. Wow. Nice lunch. This is after having had NOTHING but wonderful comments since this hair transition happened, by not only husband and adult children, but complete strangers!! I’ve been stopped and asked WHERE I’m getting my color done! And/or just “May I ask if that is your natural color?” I’ve had the entire dentist office saying things like, “If mine would look like that, I’d do it in a heartbeat!” “If I looked like YOU, I’d do it!” Just wonderful compliments, then I’m blasted by this “friend” and former confidante. So then I remembered somewhere that Nikol had talked about this being a “power play” and suddenly I realized THAT is what was happening here. This person could not handle the fact that she looks in the mirror (she is not taking care of herself) and sees what she sees though SHE is dying her silver hair (by the way, my hairdresser (do we still call them that? :)) doesn’t say “gray” - she says it’s not a “hair hue”) and then looks at women who do have the OVUM to do this and who look better than she ever will with her dyed blonde, and she lashes out! So it’s good to have heard this “power play” truth, because it was so helpful (as were 3 of my closest friends who confirmed it without my telling them the power play story) that I can go ahead and believe the great reviews and chock this horrific lunch to HER manifestation of her perception of women who powerfully go dye free!! Stay strong, Ladies! It’s about taking care of yourself!!!! whatever your age! By the way, I am 61 and along with silver multi-colored hair, it is down my back to my bra. :)

I am so glad I found this channel. I have never completely dyed my hair but only highlighted. My husband made a comment about how men don’t color their hair. Why do women? That started me thinking that I will just let my gray grow out and we could be gray together. He is 60 and I am 59. The next time I went to the hairdresser I had her highlight with gray to help it along. I tried growing my hair longer but as your guest said your face changes and I just don’t like the way I look with below the shoulder length.

My texture is very similar to your hair, so I will try those products. Simone's hair looks fantastic! I remember when she came to your Brooklyn, NY book-signing event; at that point, she recently was letting it grow out. Seeing it now, it's like, WOW, GORGEOUS. I so appreciate Caroline's honesty about skin and aging. I plan to eventually do fillers/Botox, etc. and there is nothing wrong with that. It's about doing what makes us happy to be our best. I've had a lot of people, both male and female say to me, "Why are you letting yourself go? Why would you want to look older? You have such a young face, why would you want to make yourself look so ugly? You''ll never meet a guy now..." At one point I thought I would be invisible with silver hair, but it's been quite the opposite. More often than not, the comments are very positive.

I've just re-watched this video. For me each decade after 40 is all relative. I'm 71 now, when I was 50 the idea of turning 70 wasn't even on my radar; my mother was that 70+ age. If you have your health there should be no fear attached to aging; adding illness to that rising number is the equation where length or hair color suddenly becomes obsolete.

WE have the same hair style and length and I too am letting it grow. Surprisingly, the length and grey softens my dark brows and eyes beautifully. To go gray naturally or by color, it's a matter of personal choice. I feel the same way about a person's hairstyle. This being said, I'm a 50-year-old woman (hairstyle long lob) who knew as a kid I would never embrace going gray naturally. A few years back do to more grays appearing on my crown of ginger locks, my colorist and I decided it was time for me to become an icy platinum blonde. I'm so happy I made the change. The change in color really freshened up my look. And yes, I do look younger as a platinum blonde. My colorist and I decided my hair color will remain this shade until I'm comfortable going silver. When I'm ready to color my hair white silver, I'll rock it (long or short) with confidence. In the end, this is what your hair is all about. It's about making you feel like your best self. Do what you love and good vibes will follow. Carry on

I did notice during this video how beautiful their faces looked. I've been trying to take control of my sagging jowls and I've been doing microcurrent to tone and tighten the facial muscles (gotta keep doing that!). Also, been trying to release fascia on my face to relax tension (days in between microcurrent) and most recently added LED light therapy to help me stay healthy looking. All these help to improve circulation and help with collagen/elastin production. I really love how positive you are and I've already learned a lot from your videos! Still learning :)

What makes people look old is their attitude, not their hair colour :) Grey is just a colour: people need to get used to this! Enough with all the predjudice and stereotypes. Grey and white hair can be youthful and playful, when it's how one feels :) And it is classy.

Since going gray I've had many styles including mid back length. The one essential hair treatment is argan oil immediately after shampooing. In between washes, I water rinse and use a leave-in spray conditioner (very fine hair so the rinse out type weighs it down). Long hair is great for different styling and using hair accessories, hats and scarves. Colored hair chalk is so much fun with gray hair!

I'm 42, and it's been two months since I decided to go gray. I started having gray hair when I was 18, since then I've been coloring my hair, but now I got to the point where 70% of my hair is gray, so I had to color it every two weeks (my natural hair used to be chestnut 😢) and I was getting sick of it. I thought about cutting it altogether, but my hair is my secure blanket, so I'll keep it long and let nature take its course (now it goes up to my waist). Channels like this are really helping me a LOT to power through, because I have a long way to go lol

He was much better looking as a silver fox than he was before. He had always had dark shadows around his eyes, but when he went gray, the shadows disappeared.

I think the answer for each person, will be different. I’m 51 and I color my hair back to my natural red color. I personally, wouldn’t feel comfortable, with gray hair on myself. But I’m Irish and very fair skinned and it washes me out. My grandma didn’t stop coloring her hair until 90. So while I think it looks lovely on others, at least for now, it’s a no for me.

I think your hair looks nicer with the texture, length and “unruliness”, it’s got so much life. Some layers or bangs would look lovely on you. I don’t like to use the word younger because it makes it sound like ageing is a bad thing which of course it isn’t. I’ve recently had bangs cut in and it’s made me look more more current, not younger. Not using that word 🤣

If you don't layer its easier to french braid and put in a pony tail.

I just love salt and pepper hair, it’s so classy, elegant, interesting and hip….BUT, I feel way older when I’m grey, and I think I look much older too, and so does my son…..I’m sort of a tad jealous woman can so easily not worry about their hairs going grey and just let it all hang out….must feel like such a relief to not have to bother with colouring it, … just to be you and see you growing into the you you’re meant to be and being calm with it…. It’s such an uplifting thought, BUT , I still can’t do it, I can’t give up the dye…i suppose I’m just not ready…I honestly look 20 years older grey….and yet I think grey is so fabulous on everyone…..it’s really gorgeous…

This title caught my eye. My experience has been the opposite. I have super short hair and every so often some person who should mind their own business will say something like, “well, women your age have to be careful about going too short because as women age they look more like men and it can make you look masculine.” It’s the ultimate warning...YOU DON’T WANT TO LOOK LOKE A DUDE! The bottom line is it doesn’t matter what we as women do...there’s someone who will feel the need to criticize and control us in our choices so we might as well tell them to get lost and just do what we want.

You look gorgeous with you longer hair!! My grey, curly hair is a bit longer than shoulder length. I have to put in a bit more effort than Caroline and Simone to maintain my grey and my curls. I don't blow dry, embracing my curls. They need lots of moisture and I wash a couple of times a week.

No fillers but I got all crowns lately. I able to smile at the age of 59. And I have grey hair. On top of the world right now. Thanks Nikol 😁

I have considered taking my long locks Grey and have been researching channels like yours as a result. I gotta say, for reasons I don’t fully understand, it is bringing up SOOO much for me. Perhaps it’s because as a model in San Francisco in the ‘80’s I came to believe that all success came from beauty and youth (silly, I know). I suppose it set the stage for the crisis I’m now experiencing when just CONSIDERING going natural. But the first lady is right, our faces change as we age. So many of the grey haired beauties I’ve seen are still under 40, making them still youthful and beautiful. As Caroline said, it’s not the same when your face begins to turn downward. I’ve got jowels for the first time in my life. I’ve also struggled with the effects of Hoshimotos disease of dry skin and weight gain (to name just a few). So the last thing I want to do is add grey hair to a heavier body and wrinkled, dry face 😕 WHAT A CONUNDRUM!

I had my hair last cut oct 2019 to a chin length bob. I cut it that short to cut all dyed hair gone. Grew out my grey 2x. So this third time since my hairdresser’s ruining my hair color AGAIN =+ I decided since the salon is closed I’ll let it grow for a while. It is now half way from my shoulders to my waist! Can’t decide what to do. But-Nikol looks fantastic with long hair so I can’t wait to see it grow!😘

Hi Nikol! I had to click on this video! I had a hunch about how you would tackle this question but I was curious all the same. When I first started going grey over three years ago, my hairdresser said two things to me: "Don't wear your hair in a ponytail," and "Don't grow it long." I have defied both of those suggestions!! It truly is about how you style your hair that makes all the difference. You look amazing, by the way. It would be fun to collaborate someday. I have mentioned your channel numerous times on my own for the positive support and empowerment you provide women. Have an amazing day! 😊-Erica (middle name Nicole) Henry Johnston

If I had thick, full hair like yours, I would let it go crazy. 😊

I just found your channel and I am very grateful I did. Yes they are all aging according to the rules but with class. All the best to you. By the way I love the Greek culture. I am 63, never looked it but I am looking it now because I’ve been kind of in a depression for a couple of years. You are helping you very much.
