Hi from Panamá 🇵🇦, that reason that I am watching this video is about nikon 1 j1 was my first camera to learn about photography years ago, I love my j1, I am thinking to buy this j5 to my 15 years old Son, I really appreciate you video, and I also have the ft1 adapter and others nikon lens with VR

Maybe if you get a faster sd card would it be much quicker at processing that information. You can get an adaptor for the J5 so you can use regular Nikon lenses.

I've definitely got stability on my J5 anyway. Maybe it was an update.

I liked your review - this was very helpful as I consider this camera vs. the competition. However, I think "con #5 - no stabilization" is a bit misleading. You state that other cameras have in-body or in-lens stabilization, whereas this camera does not, and that's not entirely true. The Nikon 1 system, like Panasonic's M43 cameras, has lens-based stabilization (or "VR" for Vibration reduction). At this point the Nikon website lists 13 lenses available for the Nikon 1 system, of which at least 7 have VR. It doesn't have in-body IS like Olympus, but it is available.

Hi Nice video & Thanks for sharing. Im currently researching cameras as I wish to buy a compact for travelling and I have noticed a couple of things on here. 1 - At around 4:34 you mention the lack of lenses. But did you know there is a Nikon FT1 Lens Mount Adapter which gives you way more photographic options and lets you use a huge range of NIKKOR F mount DSLR lenses with the Nikon 1 compact system camera. Compatible with all models of Nikon 1 camera, the FT1 Lens Mount Adapter makes it possible to use your Nikon FX and DX lenses on the 1 compact system body to get greater focal lengths and improved angles of view. Enjoy an angle of view that's equivalent to a 35 mm format lens with a focal length approximately 2.7 times longer. The adapter supports NIKKOR lenses with autofocus (AF-S) and Vibration Reduction, keeping your photography flexible. You'll still be able to use the Nikon 1 autofocus system - set focus mode to AF-S (Single AF) and AF-area mode to Single-point, using only the centre focus point. 2- At 10:35 you mention about stabilisation. This camera does not require in body stabilisation as it uses lenses which have VR (Vibration Reduction), and as explained above there are many lenses available for this camera which will have VR. (I couldn't help noticing in this video that at least your 10-30mm lens did have VR) Note: As a disabled person with a muscle weakening disease which affects my limbs (i.e arms and legs) and my eyes too, I was once very much into cameras with in-body stabilisation as i thought this would help eliminate and camera shake and generally help my photography. I soon realised a camera body without stabilisation but using VR lenses was just as good and so now I use a Nikon D750. Furthermore if at all pratical one can always use tripods, monopods and remotes to help keep their camera more stable if they wish. Many Thanks Adam

I have one con. It's only 160 ASA! Talking about lenses. You can get an F type mount with autofocus to fit and Nikon F lens!!

You do know that you can still take shots even if the green light is on and it's writing to the card ? Also it appears as though your card may be too slow, mine takes around 10 seconds for the light to go out after a 20 shot burst Plus, the camera is actually capable of a rate of 60fps in single focus mode, it's buffer is 20 frames though so a max of 20 continuous frames before you have to release and try again after a couple of seconds Putting the camera in 10fps or 5fps (continuous) will allow better continuous shooting for sports, whereas 20/60fps may be better for more specialist subjects like birds or to try to catch a choice of positions on a sports shot

OK, Con No 2, did you actually do any research at all ? There are lots of lenses and as for Pro lenses you missed them all, some of the more expensive lenses for the system such as the 70-300 CX are razor sharp at all zoom/aperture combinations, sharper than any other lenses I own or have tested on Nikon FF and DX, unbeatable No excuse for you criticising the lens range as they were all available long before you made this video. A built in viewfinder would have been great as would a remote shutter release As for the viewfinder there is a workaround (search KZbin for Nikon J5 viewfinder a tutorial was made long long before you made this video) "How did I do ?" No stabilisation ?, are you kidding, you had it right there in your hands, even the 10-30 kit lens has stabilisation, all VR lenses (Vibration Reduction) are stabilised. Manual focus with lenses that don't have a focus ring is achieved by using the selection dial on the back of the camera DOH !

Your card is too slow that's your issue I have no issue at all no leg no nothing your card is too slow
@koolkutz78 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Just buy a super fast card and that helps resolve the buffer issue.
@ArsonHammockHanger8 жыл бұрын
Perhaps your right. I am using a SanDisk Ultra Pro micro SD.
@HectorLopez-tl2fk8 жыл бұрын
why Nikon did put a micro SD in there!? I stick to my v1 if it doesn't let me down and wait for a v4 release.
@koolkutz78 жыл бұрын
Anson Actually that does sound fast enough card. Nikon does state in the tech specs that the 20fps burst can only be done for 1 second (I think) so maybe better to drop the burst rate & do short bursts.
@Rushdie017 жыл бұрын
I have the same camera and Anson is correct, The buffer write time is that slow no matter how good the SD card. The V1 is much faster clearing its buffer.

You need to do a lot of research before do this videos..., your only CON that is valid is the viewfinder.
