Nice shots. The jelly shots on video is a little troubling but am looking for a lens I can do more VLOG style content with the Z6, have been thinking about going with this one.

I think the jello came from the electronic VR, not 100% sure though. I was considering picking this lens up to Vlog with, How have you liked it since this video came out?

Yes, that seems to be the issue and with it being so wide no need to have it on anyway. This lens has been great and has been on the camera majority of the time. My only issue other than being f4 is aesthetics, I hate how big it gets when you zoom out especially if you use a gimbal you center of gravity is key and any change calls for adjustments.. Minor issue but something to keep in mind. But its light, wide and sharp AF! Hope that helps!

Looks like the jello effect didn't go away when you had both stabilization modes off. Do you think the most significant source of the effect is the image warping inherent to such a wide angle lens? That's my guess. Would love to see a comparison video of the new Z 20mm 1.8 for video. I had a similar issue of picture quality with the Osmo Pocket where every time I took a step, the picture vibrated. My conclusion was that shooting manual at a low frame rate wasn't very compatible with cropped sensor stabilization. Looks like sensor stabilization (the kind where the physical sensor is moving around) helps preserve quality of the image and eliminates vibration blurring based on your video.

Hey thanks heaps for the video you did an awesome job. I really love the look of lens and yes I would buy it. But I’ll be waiting for the 2nd gen Z cameras because I think Nikon just aren’t up to speed like Sony when it comes to focus and image stabilization in video. Great still image quality in Z’s, but exactly the same quality as my D850, so why upgrade? Thanks again for the vid 🤙🙏

Adrian Alford Photography thanks! It will be interesting to see what Nikon does, I like the fact the Z series are upgradable via firmware updates, like recently adding eye detection. I also use the D850 as my primary and I love that thing especially coming from the D800. Thanks for the feedback

@@TomasEstrada I'm the same as a Nikon hybrid event shooter. I'm just not sold on.the Z6 yet.

@@markshirley01 its a tough sell for sure, the camera game is pretty crazy right now. Ive been really happy with my Z6 even using it more than my D850. I am starting to feel the need for a video update.

Tomas Estrada My D850 has been collecting dust since I added the Z6 to my Z7. Firmware 3.0 was really a nice update.

My bet is that the Jello effect comes from the "on the fly" massive distortion correction that is happening in combination with the VR (this lens distortion is really high). as you cannot disable it on camera, then you can never be sure. But my bet goes for that. A way of being "almost sure" is to take the video using the focal leanght with the least distortion (i think it was 24mm...). then you can tell us the outcome

Dam I would have sold you mine for $800 I ended up trading all 4 of my New F/4 & F/1.8 lenses for the 24-70 F/2.8 (So Happy I did ) Awesome video and a great talk about the Jello effect on that lens (Body?) Keep up the great work regards, Rick

Thanks Rick! Ouch a bit of a L on those but that's the way it goes sometimes I was gonna ask what you thought about it but it seems like you're happy with the upgrade? You holding out for the 2.8 14-24mm? That's going to be a nice lens!

@@TomasEstrada Although I like the F/4 and it's a good price for the sharpest lenses out there . I feel the extra stop of light and shallower DOF is better for what i do And now that they are coming out with an adapter for Sony lenses to "Z" mount im kind of stoked. i will be making a video on the switch to f/2.8 later on this year love your videos regards, Rick
