Thanks. I have Nikon D5600 and like AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR . This lens shoots portraits well in full height. It is convenient for traveling and quite versatile. I tested it from my balcony in the fall. I was shooting autumn trees in the yard. It turned out great. The first picture came out almost perfectly in the light side light of the beginning of the evening. Colors, sharpness, lightness... I was very happy.

I bought the 18-140mm on your recommendation for 160€ on Ebay used but in very good condition and refurbished. I am super happy with the lens. I use it on my Nikon D3300. It's perfectly adequate for amateur photographers who just want to take some nice pictures. The Nikon D3300 is not a bad camera either, I got mine in mint condition with just 437 exposures for 150€ and it also came with a Tamron 17-50mm... It's really amazing how cheap you can get solid old technology, and what good pictures you can still take with it.

Absolutely, many people don't realise that just because it's old tech, doesn't mean that it's not good.

One of the best videos about the underrated Nikon 18-140mm lens. Many thanks for great pointers. I have had the lens for 7 years and in years 1-4 I had great photos. Then it all went downhill and I just couldn’t understand. So much so that I started for a new lens. Now I realised that the best way is to make use of what you have. Understand the limitations and you will get great results. Will try the VR off on the tripod too as the photos on the tripod aren’t sharp at all. Have a super 2022

Question-I have a D7000 and am a looking to take outdoor shots and some family pictures. I can only buy 1 lens. If I get this one do I buy the hood AND a filter to protect lens? Recommendation for filter please??
@CharlesNPhotography Жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely, the Nikon 18-140mm lens normally comes with a lens hood. I wouldn't worry about buying a filter for general purpose photography. I used the 18-140mm for general photography for a long time.

Hi sir... i need your opinion. Should i get 18-140mm lens despite of already having Tamron 18-200mm? Or should i get a prime lens for Portrait? I already have 50mm lens. What additional lens you can advice for me to get?

No, you already have a good lens with the 18-200mm and the 50mm. I would look at either a 35mm f1.8 for portraits or a 70-300mm for further reach.

@CharlesNPhotography3 жыл бұрын
Johnny, the 55-300mm has more focal length than the 18-140mm and if your after a lens that's alright for walk around, but need more zoom, than it's good for that. But the 18-140mm is sharper than the 55-300mm.

Sir, I have this 18-140, I have been shooting in d3100, now going to buy d500, since 16-80 f2.8 -4 comes with D500, should I buy combo or only the body.
@CharlesNPhotography3 жыл бұрын
I like the 18-140mm, but the 16-80mm lens a much better lens and being able to take photos at f2.8 at 16mm is a great advantage for low light or Astrophotography (taking Milky Way photos).

@@arnabchakraborty1885 If wildlife photography isn't a high priority, then I would look at the D7500. This s a great camera and I had one for 2 years and took outstanding images with it. Yes! it's a 20mp camera but the photos you'll get are sharp and full of colour. I'd pair the D7500 with the Nikon 16-80 f2.8-f4 and you'd have a great setup for any type of photography.

@@arnabchakraborty1885 The Nikon Z 14-30 mm F/4 S Lens is a great lens. But I had the Nikon 18-35 f3.5-f5.6 with my D750 and it was great. How about portrait image of this lens?
@CharlesNPhotography3 жыл бұрын
The 18-1400mm lens is more of a general photography lens. For portraits it's best to use a lens with a aperture of f2.8 to help isolate your subject against the background
@countbailiff31203 жыл бұрын
For portrait I use mine at 100mm @ f5.6 and take a few steps back, the background will become acceptably blurred, maybe not up to pro photo shoot standard but works well enough
@CharlesNPhotography3 жыл бұрын
@@countbailiff3120 You're right, but at f5.6 your background would still be more noticeable than at f2.8 or even f4

@@countbailiff3120 He asked "How about portrait image of this lens?" and my reply was that the Nikon 18-40mm is more of an all-round lens which is correct. I didn't say that he couldn't use it, just that a lens with a f2.8 aperture would be better.
