The DX 35mm f1.8 costs less than 200€ here in Germany. It works well on an FX camera if you are in a pinch, it just vignets a little from f1.8 to f4, after that the vignetting gets too strong. This lens was made for FX cameras, costs more than three times as much... And it still has vignetting? What is the point?

Definitely looking forward to learning more from your videos, and of course my own experiences along the way. ;)

Whats better 35mm 1.8g or 50mm 1.8g?
@TheHooHan10 жыл бұрын
Using nikon d5000. Planning to buy a new lens. Which one would be better? 35mm 1.8g or 50mm 1.8g Please advise.
@crystalchai538810 жыл бұрын
The Nikon D5000 is a crop sensor camera and Each lens is for different purposes. Nikon "Newer" 35mm f/1.8 Lens: - Good for street photography. - Equivalent to 56mm. - Not so good Bokeh. - Cost $600 USD. Nikon 50mm f/1.8G Lens: - Good for portrait photography. - Equivalent to 80mm. - Bokeh is very good. - Cost $180 USD. Again, it depends what lens you are in need of... wide for street photographer or everyday use (or) the narrow more sharper images for portraits. I personally go for both but go for the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G Lens & the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G Lens and save $200, instead of just wasting $600 on one lens! Hope this makes sense to you and helps you. Good luck!

I don't care if it's Nikon, or Canon, but can you tell me if it works out cheaper having Nikon when it comes to lenses, as you can use old lenses on it too?
@johnmichaelleslie483510 жыл бұрын
Depends on how cheap and cheerful you want to go. Both C+N have lots of lenses old and new but cheap and really good don't tend to mix all that much. Also a lot of old Nikon lenses don't play nice with a lot of new Nikon bodies (the Df being a noticeably, but expensive and naff, exception).
@qtstripes10 жыл бұрын
you can't use old canon lenses in eos cameras different system, unless you use adapter witch causes inferior quality. where as you can use old brilliant manual nikon lenses on nikon, plus over all the lenses are slightly cheaper for Nikon.

@IndigoChannel110 жыл бұрын
the worst part about this lens is the vignetting at maximun aperture, not so good to landscapes. Look at the jaredpolin review. There are better lenses
@MattisProbably10 жыл бұрын
***** You don't really shoot landscapes at the maximum aperture though. You usually stop it down a little since landscape photography doesn't need fast shutter speeds. Landscapes usually don't get up and run away^^ This is probably a great near all-purpose lens, for what it does it's just way too expensive. Almost all plastic and vignetting for 650 bucks is just not a good deal.

Davey Ward I would go for the 35mm f1.8 DX, not the FX version unless you plan on upgrading to full frame in the near future. The DX lens is great, especially for the price. Secondly, a 50mm lens on DX is a little to telephoto for everyday shots.

@toothdecay24659 жыл бұрын
+Reginald Santos Actually not true in most cases. Nikon has relatively few DX lenses, compared with the untold multitude of so-called FX lenses (ignore these marketing distinctions) Nikon have made for decades. If you limit yourself to so-called DX lenses, you limit yourself to fewer lenses and, in many cases, higher prices. A D7000/7100/7200 gives great performance and the ability to use and meter Ai, AF and AFS lenses (auto-focus the latter 2). You can save tons buying used lenses by opening yourself to the wider Nikkor lens market. I have a D7100 and I just bought a used AF-D 35-70 f2.8 for 190USD. Equivalent focal length becomes a bit longer, but, man, what a lens.

How come all of these lenses seems to have different versions but with the same name? I've watched a few reviews of the same lenses. Some says a lens has a MA/M switch, some say the focus ring has stops and some say it has that focus-numbering-display-thingy. And some reviews say the complete opposite. Of what should be the exact same lens? As a newbie, it's pretty fucking confusing what you're actually getting even buying something with the exact same name.

@NL0Gwenster10 жыл бұрын
***** If only shot wide-open, not much more vignetting than any other big aperture lens. Typically the vignetting isn't an issue if you going for bokeh and focus only on the image center anyway. Plus setting the vignetting control to high on the D700 mitigates it even more from the get-go. 35 f/1.8 DX - very feasable combination on a D700 if your only going for wide-open shots.
@L33tw0rk10 жыл бұрын
Rokinon looks good on paper, but not so good in your hand - it is gigantic relative to the 35 1.8 DX and this fx version is also bigger.

john anastas The Sigma weighs twice as much, can have inconsistent AF and isn't actually sharper across the frame, the Nikon is sharper in the corners but the Sigma in the mid, you won't be able to tell without doing side by side pixel peeping either way though.
