You should compare the RAWs, because the compression algorithm of JPEGs might be different. In fact, the JPEGs of the D7100 seem softer than normal.
@LensVid9 жыл бұрын
+Cristian Mattarei I agree, something in the D7100 on this test also seemed softer but we did the test twice. I have the RAW files and try and look at them next week to see if they tell a different story.
@phononify9 жыл бұрын
+Lensvid Do you have already a result for that ? Kind regards from Zuerich
@LensVid9 жыл бұрын
+Stephan Strauss Just checked the RAW on ISO1600 and ISO 3200 - you see a very noticeable difference in sharpness as well. If you watched our D5500 review published recently you see the exact same thing - the image on the new cameras is much sharper than the old D7100 - it is something with either the sensor/processor or maybe the implementation of the OPLF (or lack of OPLF). They are comparing apples and oranges here, you cant compare 11MB versus 16MB Jpegs here its just silly

As mentioned above - we also tested the RAW we took (we shot both - just shown the JPEG in the video), same results.

who still have like me the D7100 in 2024? It still works fine for me with my sigma 17-55 f2.8 but I still have that concern Werther to get a nikkor 28mm f2.8D or a 28mm AI lens I wonder if I even need it since the sigma have that range at f2.8 also
@fernieto84Ай бұрын
I have the D7100, and use it very often. I love my camera. I have a Sigma 17 50 mm 2.8 too. I’ve traveled to San Diego two weeks ago and enjoyed using it. However, when i was walking on the street, close to Gaslamp there were times when i felt insecure because of the homeless and addicted to drugs on the streets, and i changed the lens to my 24mm 2.8d, and the camera transformed into a compact and reliable camera. The quality of the image of the 24mm 2.8d its good, especially at F4, and 5.6.
@pralex4477Ай бұрын
@@fernieto84 Thanks for answering me so a 24 or 28mm f2.8 as a prime lens is better just for the conpactness but doesn't have a better image quality than the Sigma so I will save that money then

Looking at your RAW files, to me D7100 looks better at any ISO than D7200. D7200 as slightly but just slightly more details and probably has better jpegs strait out of camera due to newer processor, but since I shoot RAW I'd always choose D7100 over D7200. If you don't shoot video and don't need wifi and bigger buffer, there really is no reason to spend more money on D7200.
@sunandhks90116 жыл бұрын
Gordon Draskic agree the reason why went with D7100, cheaper then 7200 and no significant advantages over 7100 if you are shooting RAW...
@brianminkc8 жыл бұрын
You should always keep the plastic cover inserted in your hotshoe's. The camera is not weather resistant without it. It also helps keep the contacts clean allowing the flash to operate without irregularities.

i pretty sure the D7100 jpeg has noise reduction ON which mean reduce image details. Also the D7100 image look flat color and contrast, due to different picture control profile. Next time compare the RAW file instead

In spite of what all the KZbin hits will tell you, the D7200 has better ISO performance. A world better ? no, but noticeable difference and the AF is slightly better. I own both and I love them equally but the d7200 is a better camera.
@LensVid7 жыл бұрын
The D7200 is a newer camera (than the D810) - we are currently testing it against the D7500 and it is an interesting review (to be published soon). From our testing, the D810 still has better sensitivity in our opinion (not sure how you tested) but the difference isn't huge - the D850 will bring a jump forward according to the info that we have (although it will have another extra 10MP) which is impressive.

could you change the aperture on live view mode on the d7200

If you talking about the ISO test images than they have been all shot with a Nikon manual 50mm f/1.8 lens (both D7100 and D7200 and yes there is a large size difference in the file).

You guys forgot about the Samsung NX-1 - also APS-C camera, 28mp, BIS, 15 FPS, 4K internally and a LOT more improvements over the Nikon or Canon equivalents. Anyway, thanks for the review. Very interesting.
@LensVid9 жыл бұрын
+gustavo campos We didn't forget. The NX1 is not a DSLR - we talked about the best all around DSLR not the best all around camera. The NX1 is a very interesting camera technologically but has a very limited lens line and quite a few other issues (its also used to be more expensive but that is besides the point).

I found the RAW link below: www.dropbox.com/sh/xal1qdt5h2m9k9t I loaded paired shots at ISO 1600 and 6400 into Photoshop ACR to compare them to your descriptions of the corresponding JPEG images in this video. Using the same white balance for all shots, I found the D7100 shots were consistently 0.15 EV brighter than the D7200 shots. After making that correction, the images from both cameras were virtually identical, with just a bit more contrast in each D7100 shot compared to the D7200 shot at the same ISO. Noise levels were also virtually the same. In short: JPEG comparisons, don't waste your time

I own both and can honestly say I prefer the image quality / processing on my older D7100, Maybe because the D7200 uses a Sony sensor (which I didnt know until a couple of weeks ago) wondered why I was getting results like my Sony A6000 (worse noise control) makes it smudgy rather than a fine grain like the older Nikons did in high ISO... Shame
@ghostpanic8 жыл бұрын
***** It's weird, I just think the images shot at same settings look so much cleaner and sharp outta my D7100 than my D7200, And everyone on forums seems to think it has a Sony built sensor for the D7200 but the D7100 was Toshiba back then for sure, I really dont know... Just dont think its worth the upgrade anyone thinking of going from D7100 to D7200 i wouldnt bother

I thought I was going crazy here when looking at the image comparisons until I notice the files were JEPGs. Both images both 6000 x 4000 but one is 11.4mb and the other is 16.5mb and guess what? The larger file has more detail! Well I was really shocked by that result. What kind of serious photographer shoots JPEGs anyway?
