I have the 100mm series e and it is so sharp. It's my best lens. After each review of photos taken with this lens, I am amazed. Too bad I couldn't get the 105mm 2.5 AI/AI-S, steep price Nikkor pro zooms were very good. For example the 80-200 F/4.5N. It is very sharp (look the review of Ken Rockwell in his website) The series e 75-150 F/3.5 is also very good

I was going to buy this lens to have a bit of reach with my Z6II haha but then I decided to spend the little extra and get the MC 105 2.8 S 🤣 - But yeah, the 100 2.8 series E is quite a good little lens for what it is. Overpriced? Yeah I agree. But I suppose to has that "cult" following so it drives the prices up. If I'm not mistaken, I really think the Series E lenses were sort of meant to go along with the Nikon EM cameras. Both were cheap but offered "decent" performance.
