I owned the X-T30 for a while but sold it and bought the Z50 instead. Fuji makes beautiful cameras and the IQ of the Fuji's is great. However, somehow Fuji and I don't get along. I don't like the ergonomics of the body and the dials on top of the camera. I took the Z50 with me on a ski vacation and I was amazed how much I love this little camera. It is small, light, has fantastic ergonomics and the image quality is excellent (even with the kit lens). No regrets here and I highly recommend the Z50.

I agree. It took me a long time to get used to the Fuji. While, I like the dials, I’m not a huge fan of the grip. The problem for me were the RAW files. I had to get used to those in Lightroom, because I don’t like Capture One.

I'm a Fuji shooter. I've owned an x-t2 and an x-t3 and just ordered an x-s10. When I tried the z50 I was completely blown away by the quality, EVF, back screen, ergonomics and honestly if I didn't already have a bunch of Fuji lenses, I would have bought it over the x-s10.

weak lens economy outside adapting (which makes it a huge camera instead of small)

@@vipersrt30 Definitely agree with that. I feel it'll make a much stronger proposition once the 20mm / 40mm pancakes come out. If they can hit F2/2.8 @ $399 it'll be an interesting alternative to Fuji for travel / street.

I am currently a freelancer armed with D3100, I have the reach to afford both cameras but one thing that's holding me from going to X-T3. I can't afford to switch. Sure, X-T3 is nicer than the Z50 but I wouldn't even get the most out of it because I already have a bunch of good glass from Nikon and the reported performance of using the FTZ is actually good plus from where I live I could get the FTZ adapter cheaper than the 3rd party adapters with AF compatibility while the Nikon F to Fuji X AF adapter is still non-existent. So, my money is going to Nikon Cheers.
@visualsbyst

Absolutely. That is a very good reason to stay with Nikon. If you have all the lenses you need already, no need to switch.

Just received today my Z50 16-55 + ftz adapter and I am happy as a kid. I was deciding a long time between m6 mark ii or rp , or olympus or even the same z5. I was thinking also about. Fuji xs-10, but when you see a difference of 1550 eur for fujifilm and 950 eur for nikon with lens and adapter is a no brainer that nikon is a better deal. And it is sharper than canon and I love it! Nikon all the way.

The nikon will be better for photography, as the bayer sensor has better color reproduction, and the sharpness on the z50 is even better.

Interesting you compare these 2 …not z50 vs xt30 …I’ll take a chance on the z50 I used Nikon for years until I started looking at mirrorless some years back . Panasonic Olympus Fuji . But I’ve never found that Nikon feeling I used to have
@visualsbyst
@visualsbyst 2 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. Nikon is just as good as any and if you’re already a Nikon user, there’s nothing wrong with sticking with it. The reason I compared these two and not Z50 vs X-T30 is because I think Z50 is somewhere in between the Xt30 and Xt3. So either comparison works in my opinion. Another reason is that I had the XT3 already and didn’t have the xt30.

Why is 4K so obsessed over when DPs shoot 2K a lot for hundred million dollar productions 🤷🏾‍♂️
@visualsbyst
@visualsbyst 2 жыл бұрын
4K gives you a lot more options to work with. If you don’t have any stabilizer, for example, you could take a static shot in 4K and later add movement in post, like panning or zooming. That’s just one of the things I sometimes do.
@dct124

@@visualsbyst idk man, many movies are shot on 2K cameras then upresed to 4K.
@visualsbyst
@visualsbyst 2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if you understood what I said. If I shoot in 4K, I can shoot a static shot (which is easier to shoot if you don’t have any stabilizer) and then I can add movement in post. By having 4K, I can downscale it to 1080p and move that 1080p window within the 4K window any way I want. So the static shot isn’t static anymore. Another thing is that, obviously, not everything is movies. 4K is more and more popular on KZbin and in commercial work.

Interesting perspective. In my view, you should be shooting full frame for all professional purposes so I am not sure the card slot thing matters - the only genre of photography that crop sensor has a potential advantage over full frame is for wild life because you can more easily get more pixels on the subject. The XT-3 is a great camera but it is also much more expensive than the Z50 - and the Z50 will have the advantage of the full line of Z lenses as the mount is the same as the full frame Z's. Finally, you can easily switch auto ISO on and off by holding down the ISO button and rotating the front command dial on the Z50 - you do not need to enter any menus to do this - so I am not sure that the dial on the XT-3 is really any faster. If you are going to use a crop sensor camera for professional work then the XT-3 is the better choice, but if you are an enthusiast the Z50 is smaller, lighter, more ergonomic, and cheaper. Still, you will always do better professionally shooting full frame. You have better DR, better ISO performance, less noise, shallower DOF at equivalent distance to subject with equal apertures, and better wide angle choices as well as larger lens selection. Thanks for the video - sparks a lot to think about.
@visualsbyst
@visualsbyst 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I respectfully disagree about absolutely needing full frame for professional work. I used to shoot full frame and realized I don’t need it. I will make a video soon on why I think you don’t need full frame. I’m not saying full frame isn’t better in some ways, but a full frame that comes with all the features that X-T3 has, comes at a much higher price now and in the past, some of these features weren’t even available on a full frame.

@@visualsbyst You can respectfully disagree and I respect your right to an opinion - objectively I can't think of a genre of photography where full frame isn't better than crop sensor except sports, action, wildlife - its clearly not for events - worse ISO performance and can't achieve as shallow DOF at similar distance, its not for architecture real estate/landscape - the wide angle options are just not there for crop sensor like they are for FF and of course there is worse DR; its not for portraiture and fashion - just can't achieve the same subject separation and DR is worse - the list goes on. If you are saying that you CAN shoot professionally on a crop sensor then I wholeheartedly agree - it is not "absolutely" necessary as you put it. It is, however, better. That said, there is no doubt that you can capture great images on a crop sensor that are completely sufficient for pro work - it's just not an ideal choice. You may disagree, and again I respect that, but the objective facts don't support your opinion if we are talking about what is 'optimal' and not what is 'necessary'. If we are talking about what is possible then yes, I agree it is certainly possible. With respect to price, the Fuji XT-X system is not that much cheaper than getting a FF of another system. If you are going to go crop sensor and are concerned about budget then the Nikon Z 50 is much cheaper and checks most the boxes that the Fuji's do for a lot less money. If you are going to spend the money, then go FF - its not that much more at that point. Hope this clarifies what I was saying.

All the Z cameras have wireless backups and with Ai software we can easily enlarge those small files with little loss in details and imperfections. It was so long ago we were submitting 2mp-4mp files to publications and now the world is primarily online.

@@visualsbyst B/c there's we live in the future and there's features people don't use b/c of tradition. People shoot raw and still spend a lot of time editing so technically you didn't get the shot in camera if you're changing everything in post. For professional work Ai is a stretch however the Mandalorian is 50% ai generated 🤷🏾‍♂️
@visualsbyst
@visualsbyst 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but you do it if you shoot RAW. People think AI is all cool and funny until they start being replaced by it. I also cannot take credit for anything I didn’t do, so anything that was created with AI, I wouldn’t be ok with posting as mine.
@dct124
@dct124 2 жыл бұрын
@@visualsbyst 🤔 but you likely use Photoshop and other design software. As for Ai I'm just talking about enlargement, sharpen and Denoise mainly. Nothing we do in modern photography is actually ours. The camera companies literally design algorithms to generate the raw files we use. It's not like film where you're developing your own in a darkroom. You're using a film stock developed/designed by a science engineer. Unless you're physically drawing or sculpting, none of this is actually your's, and you've already been using a low level of ai to assist you in your profession since the beginning of digital photography. Unless you're actually creating your own camera, sensor and the technology that goes in it, that's not yours my dude. sRGB, AdobeRGB, ProRes HQ, all those color spaces are programs. It's not the same as taking a hammer and sheet metal to create something. Ai generated art will never replace real artist (not what I was leading to) As for the Mandalorian tech, the environments are designed by people however the weather is simulated through a randomizer so it never repeats and to keep cost down, smaller carbon footprint, and they're trying to do away with traditional green screen b/c this way you get real light reflection when creating a surreal or fictional space. You might want take a second to think about what ai is, you've been using it the entire time.
@visualsbyst
@visualsbyst 2 жыл бұрын
It isn’t ours even if we’re drawing or sculpting, because you use tools to do it. However, the difference is that nothing is making decisions for you. Now, you may say that you’re only talking about AI for sharpness and similar things, but by supporting it, it will eventually replace you. Also, film stock is just like RAW in a way. Both were created by someone else and are giving you a certain look. With RAW you actually put in more of your own creativity though. But none of that matters, because once you “have” that RAW or that film stock, you make all decisions during the process.
