Ikr, I hope at least to Mark II but in case of aperture flicker I honestly don’t know what’s stopping it from going across all Z bodies 🤷🏼‍♂️

Great video Michael! Nikon really step up its game for timelapse!! Sony needs some catching up to do! 😊

Thanks Mattia, yeah some of the features are indeed industry leading, yet some lag behind, it’s a balance for sure if you have the money to splash on it, so hopefully it’ll work its way down to some cheaper bodies soon too

Are you going to test the Z8? I just got the Z8, haven't shot any time lapse yet, but love the camera so far for photos. Brings back memories of how I felt when I got my first DSLR (D100)!

Looks like the aperture flicker issue has been solved in the Z8. In the interval shooting mode, the aperture is fixed according to the f-stop value selected.
@LondonViewpoints
@LondonViewpoints 5 ай бұрын
Yes, even in manual but oddly one has to have the flicker reduction on, even thought it’s manual but that what seems to drive the aperture rings to not move

how to monitor each shot that's is taken on the Z9? I was shooting a timelapse and would like to see the image so if I need to adjust the settings I would be able to do that. But nothing on the back screen to show the exposure or histogram?? help me please...

Good question. Before Nikon Z9, I used to shoot timelapse with my Sony A7R and an external intervalometer. I could control each shot easily be pausing and adjust the exposure inputs. Now I haven't tried shooting timelapse with my Z9 but I wondered the same thing as you did.

In the Interval mode with the video option , can you select 8k videos or 4k 10 bit videos?

4K only and not even 10bit sadly , just the plain 8

Does the Z9 allow you to connect another screen during time-lapse when shooting (ie. hdmi)? I figure that drains the battery too, but I wonder if its capable...
@LondonViewpoints

That I don’t know, haven’t tried but I can imagine it doesn’t, you’d need to shoot with an external intervalometer for that
@19Photographer76

My Atomos Shinobi has 2 batteries for its monitor or an external pack. That said, it's not fast enough when using focus shift shooting. Depending on your shooting interval, it should work with 5 sec or longer.

Thanks for this great video! I wish you'd show how to actually use the Interval Timer Shooting function - I have tried to shoot a 30 sec exposure x 10 shots x 1 second interval between the shots (so I put 31 in the Interval section) and the camera doesn't do it...
@LondonViewpoints

Ah yes because 30s exposure actually takes 32seconds, yeah I know it’s an odd quirk, but same is 15s is actually 16s, give it a try and see for yourself
