8 yr old granddaughter watch this with me and wanted to make one and start mailing to each other. Just finished it for the whole family. 2 grandsons, 10 and 14. Made little notebooks for each personality. Mailing tomorrow. Big Daddy even added a letter to the folio. What fun! Thanks Nik for the inspiration.

I’m just finding this years after you filmed it. I love it. I’m binging all the “Nik the Booksmith” videos that I can! You’re personality is so engaging and I love your sense of humor. I also appreciate the little picture of you in the top left corner so we can see you as you work. E everyone else just waved their hands. It nice to watch you as you work and put a face to the voice.

I can’t wait to make this. This is great for any of my male family members, they all love getting a “Barb” card. This would be so special to make and perfect for anyone you know going on an Honor Flight. They get “mail call” on the flight. I made him a large card tri-fold, kind of junk journal, for storing memorabilia from the trip; he loved it so much that he had his daughter frame it in a shadow box for safekeeping. My brain is on overload for all the possibilities. Thank you so much for such a great idea. Barb Pacific NW

Finally dawns on me you are talking about the old round Robbin letters. One person would send a letter to a family member who would add in their letter and send it on to the next, each person reading all the letters and adding their own till it got back to the originator. I think the letter went around twice, and you took out your own, when it came back around the second time. So everyone got to read them all. Or at least I think that is how it worked. I think they did that before the telephone. Fun project!

How did I miss seeing this??? It is a perfect idea for making something to contain correspondence from my grandpa's brother-in-law, Nils - from the late 1800's until his ship was sunk in 1917! They are all beautifully written, unfortunately, in Norwegian, so understanding them is a bit tedious! He came here to Portland many times, so it is fascinating to hear his ship was tied up at the still-standing, grainery! Oh, and as you were assembling that little label, saying you were going to be putting brads on it - I kept yelling to put the brads on before glueing the label down! Too little and a month too late! LOL! I still have quite a few old-time mailing labels and a lot of stamps my grandpa gave me back in the 1950's. I know, use them - they really have little value now... you will get through to me one of these times!

I keep coming back to this video, I’ve made several of these and they are so much fun to make and send! I can relate to the elusive bone folder. Mine hides from me all the time! That Tim Holtz slot thingy: you did the same thing I did the first time I used it. Maybe you meant to, I don’t know. The very top part is meant to be left unglued. So you actually have a full sized pocket along with each slot. I’m not your mom, you can do it anyway you want. :) Anyway I love this project, with or without the pocket thingy. Thanks for inspiring me.
