It is not so difficult really. I did this on my Eldo motor after a catastrophic failure. I had manuals, parts books, and tips books to help.

Much props for sacrificing your time and effort for producing this video. One of the very, very few vids online for helping more Guzzi's getting back on the road and running good. Finally a video that's thorough and detailed... Like that JB weld bit, So you don't get a gnarly oil leak. Mark from Moto Guzzi Classics taught me that, before I slapped my engine together after replacing my clutch plates and ring gear. Much appreciation for this generous video!

Dropping the oil pan to change the filter is only a couple of minutes. Since the jugs are angled outward, you can quickly pull the entire top end off, including cylinders, without taking the engine out. A small block Guzzi can be given a complete top end, rings and all, in a couple of hours. I have replaced both sides base and head gaskets in about 30 minutes.

Oh, and unlike most old classics that benefit from electronic ignition (Brit twins, BMW etc), Guzzi aint one of them. Their points and condensor system is super reliable and super long lasting. I have seen original points sets in good condition in engines with 80,000 kms on them

There are some crappy timing chains on the market. Try and get a Tsubaki brand. Also if the motor is an early one with a manual chain tensioner, replace with the later auto version. Don't bother with gear drives, not needed and noisier. Great vid dude. Enjoyed it.

Filter much less vulnerable plus you can clean out any sludge that gathered in the sump pan - the best thing you can do to prolong the life of an engine. These Guzzi engines can do huge mileage and are very sound, over-engineered in fact, plus maintenance is simple and rewarding.
