The duplicate stitch is a super fun way to embroider knitting. No need to knit intarsia, fair isle, or mosaic. Just using a tapestry needle, you can add a pop of color here and there. I show you how to do it for stockinette stitch first, and then also for garter stitch.

Sorry, not regarding this video : Can’t find a video of yours explaining transitioning from ribbing to stockinette so that transition row is not so high or such a big bump. i don't quite have a video for that. Some people slip the offending stitches in the immediate row of the transition and it helps them. I personally never really experience the problem. So I am ...well..probably not the best person to ask >.

Thanks, Norman. I do like how the chain embroidery looks on garter stitch - it makes a nice bold accent. I'm thinking this would be a good way to add linear accents that are essentially afterthought narrow stripes - but they can can go in any direction: straight or curved or diagonal. Plus, they can charge straight across seams without any fuss! Now that opens up a whole world of possibilities.... Do you think it would be possible to use an accent yarn that is a lighter weight than the knitting yarn, since the chain stitch sits over the garter stitches? It would be a more subtle effect, but it might be just the right thing. And one final thought: I wonder if some of the many other embroidery stitches in the chain stitch family would also work neatly into garter stitch. Clearly, there is experimenting to do - time to make a garter stitch + embroidery sampler scarf! Thanks, as always, Norman, for the knowledge and inspiration! -Laura 💕💕

yeah it could be possible but personally I feel it typically looks most balanced if it's the same weight. if its lighter you might want to do the cchains shorter and that can often look unbalanced. but sure, do give it a try!
