I was struggling with duplicate stitch when I suddenly thought "I wonder if Norman has a video on this?" Of course! Watching this made all of the difference!!

Super! Genau das hab ich gebraucht ! Ich möchte kleine Adventsäckchen für meinen Enkel stricken und kann sie nun so auch verzieren. Ich hab andere Videos gesehen, doch ich mag deine doch am liebsten - ich kann alles erkennen, die Farben sind immer super, deine ruhige Hand und vor allem die guten, scharfen Nahaufnahmen machens bestens! Thanks so much this was so easy and I keep coming back here every time i need to do a duplicate stich♥️ I was wondering, would it be possible to work in the way but with a double stockinette stitch?

well..double stockinette sittch is nothing else but picking two pieces of stockinette stitch and "seaming" them together on the side. So, the technique is the exact same. However, you probably need one of these round needle because you kinda don't want to pierce through to the other layer.

Thanks, Norman. I do like how the chain embroidery looks on garter stitch - it makes a nice bold accent. I'm thinking this would be a good way to add linear accents that are essentially afterthought narrow stripes - but they can can go in any direction: straight or curved or diagonal. Plus, they can charge straight across seams without any fuss! Now that opens up a whole world of possibilities.... Do you think it would be possible to use an accent yarn that is a lighter weight than the knitting yarn, since the chain stitch sits over the garter stitches? It would be a more subtle effect, but it might be just the right thing. And one final thought: I wonder if some of the many other embroidery stitches in the chain stitch family would also work neatly into garter stitch. Clearly, there is experimenting to do - time to make a garter stitch + embroidery sampler scarf! Thanks, as always, Norman, for the knowledge and inspiration! -Laura 💕💕

yeah it could be possible but personally I feel it typically looks most balanced if it's the same weight. if its lighter you might want to do the cchains shorter and that can often look unbalanced. but sure, do give it a try!

Sorry, not regarding this video : Can’t find a video of yours explaining transitioning from ribbing to stockinette so that transition row is not so high or such a big bump. Hoping I’m not the only one that finds that bump a bit odd. I would rather the bump be higher on the stockinette row. Thank you for all your hard work. Helena from Canada, Quebec

i don't quite have a video for that. Some people slip the offending stitches in the immediate row of the transition and it helps them. I personally never really experience the problem. So I am ...well..probably not the best person to ask >.

How do you effectively weave in the contrasting colour ends on the back so it doesn’t show through the front?

that will largely depend on the amount of tails and your knitting stitch pattern. But I typically just go diagonally through the purl bumps on the wrong side using a sharp tapestry needle.
