I can understand the need to wait a little bit with Nimbus since the exotic mission gives a far better start than the campaign did, but no lie, i had more emotions with all the deaths that happen in the Dragonball series than I ever did with Rohan.

Nimbus almost works, like the detail that their fist bump is so strong the guardian recoils is funny to me but, the dialog has a been a constant problem and Nimbus feels like the worst of it, plus with the deterministic chaos quest I find it hard to care about Rohan and Nimbus relationship but he keeps bringing it up. Nimbus could work if they just give him a little more time for the grief

You can tell that Nimbus was supposed to replace the relief that Cayde provided in the story, but it was executed poorly. I really like his design and background, just as a personality felt really cliché. I would rather have Rohan been the NPC and have Nimbus be the one that ya know... I think it would have landed better.

Nibus wouldnt have have fell so flat if we had gotten more time to see his relationship with Rohan. Would've been more impactful and I would've had much more sympathy for Nimbus if we could've seen how great a mentor Rohan was

There's also the fact that Cayde is a person of authority.. he's THE Hunter Vanguard that has earned the recognition and respect of characters like Ikora, Zavala, and Shaxx. Hell, he's well liked by Petra and Drifter. He's earned the right to make jokes and quips LONG before we came into the picture.

I like Nimbus and Rohan but the devs could've done a better job at the executions. Like you said, having a funny character is not the problem. The issue is timing, joke quality, etc. Had Nimbus had more serious moments, had we gotten more time with Nimbus, etc. I'm pretty sure most complaints wouldn't have been as severe. I hope Nimbus isn't abandoned. The Cloud Striders were cool. I like the way they were made to represent the opposite of Guardians when it comes to philosophy and stuff like that. Nimbus is the reason Osiris got like a Eureka moment when it came to understanding Strand use (could've been written better but still it happened). They have the potential ya know? But I am assuming most of this potential will be tapped after the Light v Dark saga ends. Unless these seasons will do a great job at expanding Nimbus and stuff like that. Edit: I like the idea of reversing the roles which someone else mentioned. It would have been a bit more interesting to see how a Vet deals with the loss of their rookie. But considering how underbaked the writing came out Im assuming it would've been criticized just the same/had the same issues.

@@PocketTuna Oh yeah! Hive Guardians were wasted yeah. Could've delved more into Ghosts that regretted the decision, Hive that wanted to join up with the Guardians, etc. Mechanically they could have also given them extra stuff. Imo with each Season they introduced Light 3.0 they should have given Hive Guardians a new power. For example, Solar Titan Hive, Arc Hunter Hive, etc. Overall I feel like it was a massive fumble not following up on them.

Man ...the Lightbrood was such a disappointment post WQ and Risen release. Like here we have such a cool dynamic with so much potential and future antagonist becomes ally threads....just wasted and dropped. We saw Hive Guardians in Plunder but I am fairly certain we never got an explanation as to their intentions with Nezarec's remains. Also why do we have to crush every Hive Guardian Ghost? Can't some escape? Further showing that not all are interested in all or nothing approach.

While I can't stand Nimbus, I must say; I personally found the Patrol NPCs of Neomuna like Sam and Quinn to be quite intriguing and enjoyable, it kinda made me feel like it was a missed opportunity to not at least slightly integrate them into the story at all, or at least get to see or hear more of them (Aside from Quinn, who thankfully has a pretty fun quest line) outside of Patrol/Lost Sector dialogue. (Or even just a glimpse of what they all actually looked like, rather than these weird people-shaped lights.) That said, I really like them all honestly, and I've enjoyed their dialogue. Here's hoping D2 makes good use of them, I love their personalities so far.

Honestly I don’t get why everyone wants to try and compare these two. I get they that they fill the niche (a gaping one in this series) of being the levity character but they do it in very different ways. Cayde was the old gun that covered up his trauma with levity, and atmosphere & tension ruining cattiness. While Nimbus is the young gun, and I know they’re non-binary but the doesn’t change that they are the biggest him to ever bo. Both have had cringey dialogues, and both miss the mark more than they hit when trying to be comedic, it just feels lateral to me.

Although this was funny at first... it got frustrating after a while. Cayde at least knew how serious some of the stuff he would joke about were. But nimbus thinks that his augments make him invincible and it's like trying to teach a teenager how to go to war.

For me I don't hate Nimbus nor do I love them. They don't bother me like others but I can understand the dislike for them, non of their jokes feel like they're trying to liven the mood to keep people's hopes up, but rather to make a joke to sound funny, because Nimbus never through their "serious" dialogue has taken the event seriously. I love Cayde because for me it was easier to tell Cayde made Terrible jokes knowing they were Terrible, in Forsaken Ikora says she wished she laughed at more of his bad jokes. Cayde feels like he jokes around not to get a genuine laugh, but to bring people's spirits up because he knows what the stakes are and doesn't want people moping or thinking too hard about it. He has shown to be serious when moments happen because they require him to even with his last breath he makes a joke, but gets serious because he knows how the Guardian feels even hitting it home with his last words "The Vanguard was the best bet I ever Lost".

They absolutely did take the situation seriously they're just optimistic and trying to lighten the mood. If everyone is all doom and gloom it won't get anything done regardless of if there's a valid reason to. They absolutely know the direness of the situation, that's just their way of coping with it cause they literally gave up most of their life in order to protect the city. Also Nimbus was a teenager when they first got the augments, of course they're gonna have a different outlook on things. People just have an issue for seeing things for what they are rather than what they think it should be or assume it is. I guarantee 90% of the people hating on them haven't even started the machine gun quest.

Cayde in D2 vanilla was pretty bad, especially compared to D1. Nimbus is all of the terrible "Go shoot some alien bad guys" dialogue from Red War put together with horrible voice acting and a bad story.
