There's a behind the scenes of him and the other band mates in a rehearsal space. They're doing just like you imagined (my favorite instrumental) and he's meticulously going through it. At the end they play it and it's fucking amazing. I imagine Trent makes them all practice over and over. It's amazing

This was so ahead of its time when you think this was 13 years ago. Awesome set!
@SlowDIIV Жыл бұрын
The song was released 18 years ago, which is more impressive. Although to be honest, when it was released, many NIN fans considered it too pop and mainstream. I liked it a lot from the beginning 😅
@CliffArmijo Жыл бұрын
@@SlowDIIV I mean to be fair, the songwriting is kinda a pop format. It's not a bad thing. Alot of rock music that has had pop format song structure like pop punk, nu-metal, and emo was very popular. Not every song obviously, but there was a lot of that in those genres. I kinda wish that rock would embrace a little more experimentation like the 90s and 2000s. Rock has fallen out of the mainstream because the fans don't like change anymore. Alot of metal and rock in general sounds very bland and repetitive, with the bands on Octane radio/Spotify sounding all the same. There are some good bands today for sure, but I wish metal fans would accept some stuff that is different and out of the box more often.
@SlowDIIV Жыл бұрын
@@CliffArmijo I think the advantage of this era is that you can discover a lot of interesting projects on your own very easily. The downside is that with algorithms and whatnot you can end up stuck in a bubble, listening to the same old stuff. I agree that sometimes some fans of certain genres are too purists in their tastes. Sometimes it's healthy to give a chance to different approaches in any form of art, otherwise you run the risk of becoming a mere gatekeeper.
@CliffArmijo Жыл бұрын
@@SlowDIIV TikTok, KZbin, Instagram, etc....can definitely be a good way for independent artists to get discovered. Which is awesome compared to having to go through a label like in the past..which was the only path at the time. Also people are able to not be confined to one genre. You were kinda stuck in that bubble in past decades. Good and bad music comes for this all the time. But rock/metal bands tend to never explore other genres to be mixed in with their own genre. They don't have to make a country album or anything...but it would be cool to see mixing again. Linking Park and Jay-Z was one of the coolest things that happened during the nu-metal scene. The only band I consistently see try new stuff and change genres dramatically all the time to test stuff out is Bring me to the Horizon. They are afraid to try shit. You know rock is in a bad state when you have festivals still being headlined by bands that are 40 years old consistently instead of new bands in the space. I love metal so much, but it's insane how much it has dropped in popularity since metal in the 80s, grunge in the 90s, nu-metal in the 2000s, and emo in the early 2010s.

You're keeping in step In the line Got your chin held high and you feel just fine 'Cause you do What you're told But inside your heart it is black and it's hollow and it's cold Just how deep do you believe? Will you bite the hand that feeds? Will you chew until it bleeds? Can you get up off your knees? Are you brave enough to see? Do you wanna change it? What if this whole crusade's a charade And behind it all there's a price to be paid For the blood on which we dine Justified in the name of the holy and the divine Just how deep do you believe? Will you bite the hand that feeds? Will you chew until it bleeds? Can you get up off your knees? Are you brave enough to see? Do you wanna change it? So naive I keep holding on to what I wanna believe I can see But I keep holding on and on and on and on Will you bite the hand that feeds you? Will you stay down on your knees? Will you bite the hand that feeds you? Will you stay down on your knees? Will you bite the hand that feeds you? Will you stay down on your knees? Will you bite the hand that feeds you? Will you stay down on your knees? Will you bite the hand that feeds you? Will you stay down on your knees? Will you bite the hand that feeds you? Will you stay down on your knees?
