Nina Conti somehow ended up with a talking monkey on her arm who is very brutal and he got a bit thirsty during the show... #NinaConti #NinaContiVentriloquy #Ventriloquism

Monkey is the manifestation of her inner monologue. Her performance is so responsive it really seems monkey has a mind of its own.
@mplsmark2226 ай бұрын
She uses an number of techniques masterfully. Like when she laughs at something Monkey has said. Im curious to know where Monkey, the puppet came from. How many of them does she have? Nina is kind of rough on him, like when she plays a steel string guitar with his face, or has him drink water and cleans up the spilled water with his face. Jeff Dunham is a very successful ventriloquist, but his act looks completely scripted, Nina looks like she is mostly improvised.

I don't know how Nina manages to bring such a sense of chaos to her conversations, interrupting, changing subjects, as if she's completely out of control - yet clearly the opposite it true as it takes so much concentration and precision to speak from two mouths at the same time. It reminds me of playing a baroque fugue on the piano. You have to split your mind and follow each melody line seperately while they still have to fit together. It is a kind of hovering feeling to let each split part of you go on for itself and reduce your coordinating part to a minimum, to an almost invisible overseer that only sometimes gently nudges one of the participants back into track. As soon as you concentrate too hard on this superiour part of your mind, the whole system may collapse. Nina does this on a very advaced level, because she lets the two parts of her react in real time to unforseeable events of the real world, while letting each part stay fully in character. At the same time the coordinating part of her watches all that from the outside and suggests jokes on the meta plain to her two characters.

At the end of the show she asked us from audience, in a gesture to help , to carry her outside the stage. I remained intentionally at the end just to give her a kiss on the cheek.She was sweaty after so much work in that hot monkey costume, still I would kiss her 1000 times more today for the woman she is.
