Merkel wanted the Bundeswehr band play the song "Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen" (song by / formerly sung by Nina Hagen) as her farewell song at the end of her term in office.
@DenUitvreter9 ай бұрын
An interesting choice, because Hagen was still an East-German singer back then and only could make a single with the state's approval. The song is said to, under the surface, to complain about things like colour film being hard to get, and the communist government taking colour out of life. Merkel of course grew up in the DDR too, but didn't move to West-Germany like Hagen.

It's always good to do good research. I'm 60 now and when I was young I was totally in love with Nina. And of course I still am today. You have to know that Nina had classical singing training in her youth in East Germany. Her mother was also an artist and sang too. I also think that Nina was very influenced by Zara Leander's singing. You can tell that from the exaggerated rrrrrs, for example. Her clear language also comes from classical music. In general, Nina grew up with artists. Eva Maria's partner was Wolf Bierbaum, for example. That's of course a great opportunity for young people to express themselves and become self-confident. I think Nina had all of that. In general, it was extremely cool to grow up in the 70s and 80s, it seemed like anything was possible. Young people finally broke free from war-crippled Germany in the 70s. everything was looking up. The merger with, in my opinion, one of the best musicians of the time, Nina Hagen's band, and then the German band Spliff. You can see that in the LPs that came out, such as Unbehagen etc. Unfortunately, after the break-up, things went downhill for both sides. Nina was no longer able to gain a foothold on her own. Just like the band Spliff, things got quieter and quieter until they died out. Punk was no longer popular either and the era of acid jazz and then tecno began. But Nina never gave up. She also became the mother of the well-known, hard-working actress and speaker. She won an extremely large number of awards and festival prizes... Cosma Shiva Hagen. Of course, there were also a lot of narrow-minded, stuffy people back then who just couldn't get along with the wild punk girl Nina and scandals were inevitable. See, for example, the Austrian talk show What's wrong with youth culture? - “Club 2” with Nina Hagen and others (1979). Her voice is amazing with enormous range and stamina. Her acting on stage is just cool. A real entertainer. High voice, e.g. the song Naturtrene. Deep voice, Personal Jesus cover. You can find a lot about Nina Hagen on KZbin these days. That wasn’t the case a few years ago. I think that’s also because she now lives a lot in the USA. That’s why she’s better known there. Check it out, it’s worth it. In general, the whole artist family is very interesting. a real artist with enormous creativity. A life’s work, so to speak. God bless you and your daughter, Nina.

Watching her performance here, I see that she was probably a little inspired by Screaming Jay Hawkins, which I'd not realised before. So much music is boring these days.
