She is just across what stands for our main street from a theater that appears to be on a long intermission without trumpeting the "let's all go to the lobby" song. The town of Tryon paid for her to go to Juilliard , She wasn't able to get a job after because black pianists weren't in the philharmonics of the world. So she changed her name and started working the club circuit.

It really is. Every once in a while, I try and make it a point to listen to some of the oldest books and music I can find for history's sake. Taking the sentiments alone without taking the words or events of so many pieces of work-you'd almost think no time has elapsed between the mid to late 1800s and now.
