@@Thedownwardmineon this is why you’re being attacked by her fans. You’re giving them reason to. stop playing the victim card under Gaga related videos and log out. Your reaction has now made me want to see Lady Gaga perform this song on the piano at an awards ceremony, in the style of the acoustic performances of Bad Romance or Speechless. These chords sound even more dramatic on the piano without all the industrial-inspired production (although I really like this industrial mood).

I love this song so much since the first listen and at the same time I got so confused "wow her voice sounds so different here"! It reminds me the feelings I got after my first listen of Bad Romance when I had no idea this singer was the same singing Paparazzi or Poker Face and when I learnt it, I was blown away! Now I know her versatility and I'm still amazed by her talent! This song is not only a return of Darkpop Gaga, it's a dark pop much more powerful vocally and stronger in terms of production than back then. Thank you for your analysis, I appreciate it!

I also love how the chorus is Bm, A, G, E, yet the bass undernearth the A doesnt follow the root note, it goes up to D (so A major over D). In the first half of the chorus anyway.
@DanAxl-x9d3 ай бұрын
Nvm I just got to you saying this lol. The chords are: Bm, A, G, E (all the way through the chorus) But the bass notes are B, D, G, E. That's what gives the second chord that nice edge. Then the bass notes follow the root notes for the second half of the chorus.

(low-key, it brings me joy to see you... you made the 2020 pandemic era bearable, so first of all, thank you for that.) [update: of course, i also have to mention i really appreciate how you break down a song, layer by layer, your intuitive grasp of composition and third-eye vision of a song's spirit, you bring into terms melodies, potential sonic easter eggs, nuances i wouldn't otherwise magnify on my own, that i literally rewind your reaction(s) more than a handful of times, which is rare. ugh.] i developed my patience with GAGA over the years, so to hear her in this gritty element feels nostalgic but also i can sense the maturity and confidence she has cultivated in this period of life. she's in love again and i can hear it in the unrushed pace of this production - it's not frenetic or desperate. the lyrics are face-value simple (however upon meditation, and a few shots of tequila, the theme of withdrawal and a menacing, abusive undertone in the character she's embodying in this song, remains to be seen but i feel it [the MV hasn't been released at the time of this stream of consciousness], but alas the depth she brings to the soundscape with her adlibs and layering, (shoutout to the producers), the synths she infused into this song gives it a slow-burn ambience - i was literally shocked at first listen. gagged. anyway - i fear this entire era is going to be the death of the current me - like every era with GAGA, the past 16 years of being a once Little to now fully grown Monster, she's helped me shed layers of myself by summoning the elements of myself that were dormant, and in rare instances, instilling in me gems she found and shared with us through her artistry. paws up 🤘😈🪽 forever
