Thank you for your kind expression of appreciation of members of this community. In a way, the ink you "created" is your own personal mile marker of being a tangible contributor to this community. Finally, a reminder, that the existence and growth of the fountain pen community over these last 10-15 years, is due, in part, to YOUR CONTRIBUTION (truly, a gift - imo) to us. THANK YOU Stephen.

Cannot recall when I bought my SBRE Brown ink (Akkerman version) - I had a benign tumour surgically removed from my brain in 2018 and essentially have been recovering since. At some point since then though I acquired a Kaweco Brass Sport (EF nib) and a bottle of SBRE Brown. I carry this pen with this ink in my pocket every day for scribbling out shopping lists to more serious and extensive work. Out of my fountain pen collection of around 15 pens, this is my favourite. Thank you so much Stephen for your fantastic ink - it is unusual and distinct enough to stand out from all others while not being too jarring & outrageous. I hope very much that the last nine years have broadly been kind to you. I watched your videos before my surgery, but I really cannot tell you properly just how much they helped me since, and how much they continue to do so. From here in the UK, you have my very sincere thanks and gratitude.

Dude around 2015 i really started to get back into fountain pens and began following you. I finally got the courage to use the MB my Mom gave me as a present (very exp for a student) and began tye write up of my PhD thesis. ❤. Love the channel and what you have created. May it last forever.

Truly a great post…the sonnet from the bard strikes a deep cord with me and I am sure many others…as we remember you and the many faces of you we have seen and cherish…the great work on our shared passion of pen and ink, the deep work on the stoics, and the great couplet ending eat Sonnet 30, restoring all our losses….

Love you reading of the Bard, when I get done with this I’m going to play it again. Congrats on the anniversary -it is a great ink and I have been using it since the large Dutch Masters Bottle came out, my M600 Tortoise Red, Left Oblique is very happy with it too. Thank you Stephen for all you have given me since you have been on You Tube. I am really appreciating the recent “sprinkling” of these “thought posts” among the pen reviews. All the best.

What I found interesting in that monologue is the reflection about the good and bad experiences. I am convinced that we do not weight them equally, as I saw in my case and that of others. Bad experiences are weighted more than good ones. And it is unfortunate that we do so, as we may take bad decisions based on that This being said, I am grateful that Dr Brown persisted in his commitment to the community. His channel was one of the first I discovered about fountain pens and it was instrumental in keeping my interest alive. Thank you very much! And to more years to come!

In this episode you have mentioned many salient points upon reflection of an event and the signposts that may or may have not been impacted by this event, in particular your signature ink. I have bought a bottle of SBRE Brown. Honestly it was the Akkerman bottle that intrigued me but when I used the ink it was the color and properties of the ink that came to the forefront. Nine years is a while for sure and a lot can happen during that time - good and bad. All of us can reflect on the ups and downs in this time span. As a community we are surprisingly large, globally. Recently I went to a Pelikan Hub event. I saw the joy of people showing, demonstrating and wax poetic about their pens. Attractive is perhaps one way to describe a pen. Some are works of art. Some just mesmerize you. Finding a pen that takes your breath away when you put ink to paper is an emotional event in its own right. You and others have shown the joy and pitfalls of these pens to a wide audience. Yes, some out here in the ether take umbrage but the vast majority are very appreciative of your episodes. Perhaps a new ink should come about on the 10th anniversary of SBRE Brown. That would be a celebration for this ink and for a new arrival.

It was Douglas Rathbun that introduced me to your channel. I am only around 90 days away from being 80 years old. It has been 55 years since I was given a Parker 21 that started me on being a fountain pen coo-coo! You are a wonderful personification of a fountain pen enthusiast on a higher level. I hope you know of Drew Brown of Goulet Pens, another Brown who is devoted to encouraging people to be fountain pen enthusiasts. I trust your first almost decade will evolve into many years of fountain pen joys.

Nine years? Boy, have a lot of things changed since then! Some good, some not so much, as you said. One of the good things is that I still have and use my "stock" of SBRE Brown Ink! Stephen, I ordered one of the 30 ml bottles with your fingerprint splash on the label on Sep 19, 2015 and received it Oct 1 (hey, that's tomorrow!! minus 9 years) 2015. I liked it so much I bought a "fancy" 120 ml Akkerman bottle of it in Jan 2018. It remains one of my top tier, all time, favorites. (I just don't write very much anymore and 120 ml is quite a lot of ink for grocery lists! :) So THANK YOU, Sir!! May your next project be just as successful.

sbrebrown has been my favorite brown ink since I bought it about a year ago. When I get near the end I shall order another! I think we obsess on these lowly writing instruments because they are a lovely blend of function, science, art, and emotion, as are the many wonderful inks like yours!

I have a bottle of SBREBrown ink. It's used to ink up my SBREBrown fountain pen - its ideal and exclusive companion. I keep my pen in my SBREBrown monogrammed pen case next to a life-size recreation of his like, all in my SBREBrown shrine. BTW this isn't true. You can't get monogrammed SBREBrown pen cases. Seriously - many, many congratulations on the success of your ink (and the pen). It's well deserved sir 🙂

Maybe it is a time to design another ink? Maple Brown, to combine Canada + SBRE Brown? 😀I am sure I would buy it in the Akkerman's bottle. As most of my inks are in the scope of reds and browns, your ink is an obligatory one in regular rotation. I support the opinions below - it is your consistent contribution to the fountain pen world which helped it to blossom in the recent years. Thank you!

I currently have a Magna Carta Mag 600 inked with SBRE Brown. 9 years ago, I was hunting around for a Parker Penman Sapphire, which had become ridiculously expensive on the secondary market. I was still writing with mostly blues and blacks. And I was still teaching calculus at 8:00 am in the morning (I requested this time). Now I'm retired, a Professor Emeritus, and have too many inks of too many colors, but SBRE Brown is a clear favorite.
