Thank you... nice, simple and clear. Some expansion on the "let, please" rules will be needed for most players. Plus , it would be good to point out that hitting the other player, in any way, is a big no no. If only because you want to have someone to play against. And did Rodrigues win that match against Gaultier ? Or was it just a game that he'd won?

I think it will eventually make the Olympic games. Squash has made a very good effort to make the sport more marketable and TV-friendly. From different coloured courts, coloured balls, playing these games in amazing locations (this game was played at New York's Grand Central Train Station) amongst other things. Lots of nations play the sport, it's popular and easy to watch now that they changed the scoring. I'm fairly sure that it's only a matter of time. Beats watching Olympic synchronised swimming!

There's an alternative hybrid method of play and scoring. Developed in Bedford its known as the CC Scoring System. Point a Rally but stopping at 9 points (the two point clear system still applies). It runs until one player is tired, or hungry and at that point the previous games won tally is ignored, and one game takes all then applies, with the loser paying for dinner afterwards.

Yes, the size different between rackets are noticeable. Both sports are played differently so it might not be the cakewalk that you think it is.
@echance27 Жыл бұрын
Does a player need to hit the ball directly onto the front wall, or can they hit it off another wall, so long as it reached the front wall above the tin before hitting the floor? At 0:55, it looks like the player in white and navy blue is hitting a forehand off the back wall that then bounces against the front wall and play continues.

@bustertornado54332 жыл бұрын
The second line on the wall is where you have to serve above (i.e the ball has to bounce above there when you serve) When you serve, the ball has to land inside the bigger box that your opponent is standing in (so you can't just serve it wherever you want).

They alternate sides from the last serve. As for when the ball hits the opponent, it depends. If the return would have been good and the ball would have struck the front wall without first touching any other wall, the striker wins the rally, provided the striker did not “turn”.If the ball either had struck, or would have struck, any other wall and the return would have been good, a let is played.If the return would not have been good, the striker loses the rally.

Here's where it gets thorny. Because they are available on the public domain, they are open to 'fair use laws' so long as you credit them (which I do in all of my videos and descriptions). Most organisations are okay with this and I always ask permission to use their stuff. However, some organisations really don't want you to use their footage and start slapping you with copyright claims. So far, I've been hammered by the NFL, the International Olympic Comittee, Matchroom Sports, XOSDigital (which covers NCAA) and Star Sports (who I unsuccessfully fought and lost). These sports videos sometimes are more of a pain in the ass then they're worth.

maccajoe nope it is superior. Physically more demanding which is what generally makes a sport more superior. If you dont believe me have a look at the research done on ramy ashour vs roger federer and how much they moved and the time they were in play.

@@naominohar9251 I don't think the bar for which sport is superior just comes down to what is more physically demanding? Then surely the best sport of all time would be indisputably CrossFit or UFC or something? What about team sports? In many cases some people are less active during play that makes the game inferior? I've never played squash but this is a very poor argument for being the better sport in my opinion.

@@DjokovicIsOurLordAndSaviour play it and then you will understand. squash isnt a team sport. Furthermore its more well rounded than all the sports u named.

The new method of scoring is fairer than the old method simply because when you win the exchange from the serve you're at an advantage, therefore, it's only right that if the receiver (the one at a disadvantage) wins the exchange they should not only win the serve but also receive a point.

The video is good but too fast to grab the technicalities unless of course you rewind and watch again and again. However, few of them were well explained.

0:56 Hang on, if you let the ball bounce on the floor twice, do you lose one point or does the opponent gain one point?

Sorry, your opponent gains a point.

Not that I'm aware of.

Very rare. It is a non-contact sport. Although contact does happen it should never escalate into a fight because racket sports are generally assosiated with good/gentlemenly behavior. If you attack an opponent expect a harsh penalty.
