We bought a foodi for the family 1 1/2 years ago and only used it once. Since we moved to a new area where the weather is over 100 each day, we started using the foodi. I needed a new recipe for chicken breast and didn't find one I liked, I saw you video and am trying your recipe today. It looks good, thank you.

I just tried this and the recipe is great. But, i think you can pressure cook for a little less time, because my chicken temped at almost 200F. Still juicy, but too high of a temp. I probably seared for longer, which is something youll want to think about, when balancing the time between that and pressure cooking. Ill definitely be using this method more.

I am going to do a revised video on this. My methods have changed a little bit. If you pressure cook first and then turn on the air crisp afterwards to give the chicken a little color it turns out better. Thank you for watching. To answer your question on searing in the Foodi, Turn your appliance on, hit sear/saute, select your temperature and hit start. It should heat up then.
@jessetorisky43172 жыл бұрын
Hi, great video! What's the difference between sautéing first then pressure cooking, versus pressure cooking first and then broiling. I have seen videos where the latter method was used. Thanks!
@mymomlife2 жыл бұрын
You can do either. The latter is probably better texture wise if you want it crispier. I have changed a lot of how I cook it since this video. I prefer just air crisping chicken breast now unless I am going to shred it and then I pressure cook it. I have many more recent videos on chicken in the Ninja Foodi if you are interested.

Did you bring up the pressure and then add the 5 minutes? Mine takes a lot of time to begin pressure cooking, This would add time to have the chicken sitting in there.

No. You set the timer to 5 minutes and then the pressure will build and then start counting down after that.

I was thinking about trying this tonight to do a one pot chicken with tortellini and pesto cream sauce. I just got my Ninja so im experimenting but I was thinking of doing a convection (air fryer) setting first ...then making the tortellini in the drippings with the chicken still on the rack with a pressure setting for a few minutes. Basically, I'm curious about searing vs air frying and the final product of the chicken 🤷♀️🤷♀️ we shall see how it turns out...🤞

How does this compare to just air frying ? Hate to admit but have never used the pressure lid on mine
@mymomlife2 жыл бұрын
I honestly have changed the way I cook chicken breast in the foodi/instant pot. I prefer air frying it UNLESS I am shredding it for tacos or something. Then I pressure cook it. It is really just another option to cooking it. Not a huge difference.

@mymomlife4 жыл бұрын
Yes! Pressure cookers cook so fast. Of course it depends on how thick your chicken breasts are but if they are average size than it is plenty of time. If you find that it is not enough time for you, you can always play with the timing a little bit.

You can do it that way. Honestly this video was done after only owning the Ninja Foodi for a few weeks. Now I do it in reverse. You can do it so many ways.
@josephcreed74 жыл бұрын
@@mymomlife reverse? That sounds awesome. I tried it yesterday following your method, but with a few tweaks. I pressure cooked two breasts (8oz total) for 5 minutes, 4 minute slow release followed by a quick release..then I crisped at 400°F for 10 minutes..came out nice. my FIRST time using my Ninja for real. followed but used diff spices, what i had. also beef broth instead, again, what i had. i took your advice and added MORE spices and it came out VERY spicy. so, if i had to do it over again, i'd add less than the normal amt (this time i added more than). i think the pressure cooker accentuates the spices, so i will use less. my pressure cooker spun like 1 or 2 times and started counting back from 5. i thought that would take longer. i like the count back timer that comes on. 8 mins, all was naturally released. this is the BEST chicken i have ever had. so moist. thanks for sharing. was my 1st time ever using a pressure cooker of any type. this made it easy. advice to others, CUT BACK on the spices, unless you like it really spicy. the time seemed perfect, 5 mins, count back 8.

Would you still do 5 minutes if you don't sear it?
@mymomlife5 жыл бұрын
You could add a minute to the cooking time if you don't sear them. If they are still not cooked all of the way through just make note for next time and add like 2 minutes. You can always put the lid back on and cook for longer but once they are over done and dry there is no going back lol.

works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside kzbin.infoUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.
