This is a Single-segment run by Josh Styger, who seems to pop up quite frequently on SDA especially with NES games. Anyway this is the latest speed run in the trilogy of Ninja Gaiden NES series games and it doesnt disappoint.

For me only the last stage was a real challenge cause you needed the ring of fire sub weapon to somehow finish the level within the time limit and only one is available at the very beginning of the stage. Essentially an almost perfect run is needed for the final stage.

Somehow when I was a kid I was able to beat Battletoads once, Double Dragon several times, and other hard as hell games as well- but I could only ever get up to the final state in NG3.

My little brother beat the original Ninja Gaiden when he was 10, 4 years ago, and it completely floors me. The furthest I've ever gotten was Darth Maul in 5-4 or 6-3 whatever.

This is'nt the hardest Ninja Gaiden, this has fire wheel under a button.. Ninja gaiden one, still the champ. Great run it was awesome!

about 9 min in the video...ryu suddenly disappear for like 2 seconds. It happened several times.....I think if it's not some kind of bugs, then seems like he did play for several times and edited the videos.....But it's still brilliant.

I remember back in the day i could done this game in a bit over 20 mins, something like 21-22 mins. Keep in mind that i never used the fire wheel and i was 10 or 11. I wish i could play this game again without input lag like u have on emulators.

I played a ninja game back then in which there was a helping sentinel robot behind the ninja character. The in-game language was English so I've not recognized its true identity yet. The setting and plot was similar to the Ninja Gaiden series; maybe it's one of these NG titles. Can anyone help me with this?

Game is hacked. No recoil upon getting hit, no stage hazard damage either.

You can play this game for 40000 thousand hours, but that doesn't make the hit recoil magically go away, it was programmed in the code. No hit recoil = altered code. Hacked. No trolling.

+Ehtnically ambiguous Chuck That's because it's the Japanese version of the game being speedrun. The Japanese version doesn't have the recoil from getting hit. Also, the speedrunner did intentionally get hit to get him a few seconds of invulnerability to get past the hazards, plus the ninjitsu of the fire wheel grants invulnerability as well.

this is the english version, you can tell by how much damage the enemies deal. in the japanese version everything does 1 point of damage.

The easiest Ninja Gaiden.... if you're playing the Japanese version. And yet the hardest Ninja Gaiden if you're playing one of the international versions. In the Japanese version Ryu only takes half as much damage, the checkpoint system is far more merciful, the continues unlimited, and it had a password system. Seems Temco was copying Konami's playbook of the time of going easy on Japan then dialing the difficulty up for the western market.

jidar I'll take this sword over the shitty butter knife in NG2 any day. The sword hitbox in that one is so insignificant that you're better off stacking clones and spamming fire wheel against pretty much anything. It was a huge turnoff after playing NG1 honestly.

Awesome run, grats. I'm TASing this game, just for fun, but... I can't do the fast wall climbing like it should be in a TAS. I've tried every possible combination of inputs to do it, but it's not working. I searched on the internet resources teaching how to do it fast showing the imputs, but I've found nothing. And in tasvideos.org there is only a guide with tips about the game, not showing the fast wall climbing. If somebody knows the inputs, can anyone help me out sending me the inputs do it? masterninjahh actually that because KZbin would convert them into 30fps in 2012, where the Game would run on 60fps and Fire Wheel would alternating the visibility (visible & invisible) for each other frames. Alternating visibility are common trick during the NES era to make sprites/objects looks seemingly transparent. And thus similar issue also noticeable for other games such as Gradius's Shield.

I'm going to take this as a joke that has no funny punchline, because generally people who watch this know SOMETHING about the game they're watching, and anyone who knows ANYTHING about classic Ninja Gaiden is that the Fire Wheel gives you immunity. Immunity to most traps, spikes, etc. So ya... I'm gonna assume you already knew that.
