I agree with all of these. Hades, Wonder Woman herself arguably counts since even 80 years later the core of her character is rather undefined compared to both Batman and Superman. It feels like a lot of the time she still gets reduced to "The Girl character from Girl Island for girls". At least she seems to get perceived as such in popular culture as basically just fem-Superman with a Greek mythology angle and only that since even the bulk of her supporters seem to only care that she's female and rather strong, never mind her detractors. It's also a bit telling that Diana's origins change almost as much as her poor protege Donna Troy, and that Diana unfortunately seems to almost always get the worst alternate universe counterparts. I imagine that would be a longer video though, but maybe it can just be contained to whatever happens with the DCEU version of her given I don't have high hopes for the upcoming _Wonder Woman_ sequel movie--par for the course with the DCEU though unfortunately.

Found myself being immersed in this franchise again playing it from the start via my ps3 (Sigma 1). About to get into Sigma 2 again and I couldn't agree more with your videos on DOA and Ninja Gaiden. Despite what others may say, Momiji definitely had EVERY business in retrieving the Eye of the Dragon since she and her sister were meant to be the guardians of it. On top of having a score to settle with Obaba for abducting her in NG: DS and Obaba being her equal in the Black Spider Clan. It's a more sensible progression for her character. As for the rebuttal that Ayane has no business rescuing Sanji, I think she'd be fine being assigned to doing so since: 1. Momiji would probably strongly insist on fulfilling her duties and settling her score with the Black Spider Clan/Obaba; 2. The Mugen Tenshin Clan have a history with the Tengu based on DOA's lore wherein they reside in the mountain wherein Tengu seem to dwell. I always thought that, like the 2 main Hayabusa's and their clan being descended from/connected to Dragons, The Mugen Tenshin have some sort connection to the Tengu thus they specialize in weather-based magic like how Tengu (Bankotsubo) in DOA 2 can affect the weather in his arena/boss fight.

Other waisted potential from the post itagaki era : Eliot : he was supposed to be special ....he's not . Because koei techmo won't make chines magic a thing or rather they only let the ninja's and magic creature used magic . Lisa Hamilton: she was a scientist working for doa tech but she thought donovan and Helena had gone to far so she began using her past mistakes to destroy them not realizing that even if she was the lesser evil she was still evil and she didn't reconsider till she had to fight the monster she made , Hayate . Then I can't even explain what she did in 5 and 6 Brad Wong :a cool and powerful martial arts master that challenged the most powerful martial artist on the planet and seemingly either realized alcohol was the weakness that kept him from beating Genra or losing was what cause his relapse . Either was he did have a relapse and turned into a depressing to watch silly drunk out of his mind older looking man that flirts with under aged girls ,and is a terrible role model for Eliot ,then he just stayed that way . Kasumi : arc ended with her failing to keep her clan from doing something extreme , Failing to Alpha 152 meaning it would likely go on a rampage and likely destroy the planet ,and she seemingly though the one person to somewhat get her had died as soon as she met her .Then 5 came along and there finally friends but nope Kasumi was .....another clone the whole time and the two still barely react even though there supposed to be friends . Hayate : how merciless Hayate had become was never addressed again after 4 and he still hasnt won a tournament or beaten a unique boss. Leon : still hasn't appeared in cannon since 2 Genfu : they couldn't find an exsuse for him to exit because he's a standard old man and not young sex or a woman but given how the series has gone they probably have a more of an interest in making Marleen a fully fledged characters and she is literally 12 at oldest . Zack: one of the few characters that doa 6 improve compared to 4 and 5 . The don't treat him like Ryu's equal anymore he Helena ,Bayman and Kokoro need to be doatecs Kasumi Hayate Hayabusa and Ayane . Mila : she is a bass fan girl and the face of doa 6 . She's better than Marie on almost every level . That's all Lei fang : still in college still playing with Lee and Hitomi . And hasn't taken the hint. Jann lee .... Rig...... Diego:. Rachel ,Momiji ,And Irene's use in dead or alive or lack there of . Marie and Honoka : there appearances aside at least try and make them not stupider less cool Alisa and lars .

This proposed alterative is far better than what occurred. I agree, the games since DoA 4 have completely wasted any and all potential going forward. I used to love the franchise, but I've barely played DoA 6 since my initial playthrough. It's just not interesting seeing rehashes of past events and squandered moments constantly being passed up for fan service and poor characterisation. Do we even know the future for the franchise of both Ninja Gaiden and DoA, if indeed it has one?

DOA5 is not just the best game in the series it also has a great story mode. In DOA5 they were smart enough to realize that fighting games simply cannot take their stories seriously or you end up with peak cringe, so instead they decided to have some fun with it which worked really well. Now DOA6 i admit had a really shitty story mode, obviously rushed and they brought back Raidou which should have huge emotional baggage for Kasumi, Ayane and Hayate but then they glossed over everything like it barely mattered. The whole thing was a wet fart. As for NG, TN pretty much confirmed that they are planing a NG4, maybe even already in the works.

Only 2:30 minutes in and I already have to say: sorry but nope. Momiji has to be the one who saves Sanji because they are both from the Hayabusa Ninja Clan. Also she's primarily a priestess and not an actual Ninja/Kunoichi. Her job is to protect the Eye of the Dragon and the children of the village. Ayane is from another clan and even though their clans aren't enemies it wouldn't make sense for the Hayabusa clan asking someone from another clan to save one of their children. Ayane is the right choice for Obaba because the Black Spider Ninja Clan is a common enemy of the Hayabusa and the Mugen Tenshin clans.

It would have been better if Rachel's, Ayane, and Momiji chapters being part of mission mode or DLC campaign like separate ways in the vanilla ninja gaiden 2 on the Xbox 360, instead of forcing in Ryu's campaign. Like they should have made Ninja Gaiden Black 2 back in 2009 on the Xbox 360 with separate chapters once you beat the game for the first time and chapter select screen where you can choose to play as Rachel, Ayane, and Momiji. That's how you make an expansion version of NG2 while keeping the blood and gore uncensored.

And let me be the one to point out, Rachel shouldn't have stood chance against Marbus, a Greater Fiend, when she could barely hold her own against powerful standard fiends. Lol I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought Momiji's story should have been Ayane's. Give Momiji more character development, Ayane has enough within DOA and Rachel is pretty lackluster in comparison. A Ninja Gaiden game centered around Ryu and Momiji would be a dream come true.

@Anderson Jeremiah Perhaps. But it's worth mentioning that both Ryu and Momiji got much stronger between NG1 and NG2. Not to mention that canonically speaking, Ryu made up for that loss by beating Doku three times, twice in NG1 and once more in DS, while Momiji defeated both Tengu brothers, along with multiple Black Spider Ninjas and fiends beforehand. This isn't meant to take away from Doku's victory over Ryu though, far from it. That's still an impressive feat, even knowing he used the Dark Dragon Blade.

@@JagGentlemann there isnt much to compare in gameplay, in my personal experience, Ayane has Ryu's level of mobility, she has fast paced attacks and it was kinda fun playing as her in both Sigma 2 and Razor's Edge, Rachel does tons of damage but her attacks are kinda slow imo, she is the worst of the 3 characters, Momiji's is somewhere in between Rachel and Ayane, but overall all 3 characters have a limited move-set, only one weapon and one Ninpo like Ryu from Ninja Gaiden 3 Vanilla, honestly those missions should've been Bonus missions after beating the main campaign, like the Batman Arkham Knight DLC, no matter how much i simp for Ayane, at the end of the day, i still prefer playing as Ryu since he has tons of weapons, multiple Ninpo and overall an Extensive range of combos to experiment with, Gameplay Wise, Ryu has more freedom than all the other characters. TL:DR: Ayane is good, Momiji is Decent, Rachel Sucks, Ryu is GOAT

While I wouldn't say bring back Gamov just for Rachel to fight him, characters have been resurrected from the dead in the Ninja Gaiden series. Irene was brought back to life by the Dragon Sword's power at the end of NES NG2, Ryu was resurrected by the falcon spirit in modern NG1 after his first encounter with Doku, and in modern NG3, Cliff Higgins brought back to life his brother Theodore, the Regent of the Mask, somehow. Rachel's chapter in Sigma 2 was probably the most pointless out of the 3 girls, though (it didn't even explain how the Statue of Liberty was brought back to its original place after Ryu sunk the animated statue in the ocean). Second would be Momiji's. Ayane at least fought to take back the Eye of the Dragon to give to Ryu which explains why she has it instead of Ryu getting it from Kureha's grave or from Momiji herself.

Sigma 2 was an ok IMO, I want to like it but Momiji, Ayane and Rachel were just there because... well idk. Do they help fill out the gaps in the story in original NG2? No not really except for Ayane with the Eye of the Dragon Jewel. It would've been at least better if they didn't include the female characters and instead added those bosses for Ryu in extra chapters. Does that drag out the plot a bit more, yes it does but at least it doesn't use throw away playable characters

Playing this now, after finishing 3 RE. 3 is better lol. You can use all characters in every stage and, the side characters don't just get bodied in every scene making me not want to play as these jobbers like they did with Rachel. Very confusing when Rachel gets bodied in every scene then you play as her and she's stronger than Ryu with a super practical moveset that trivialzes everything.

I would see my uncle play ps2 around his 30s n he talked about how god of war n devil may cry were the greatest games he played. Also another missed story beat of Ayane was that Obaba wasn't dead when she left Kasumi killed her and then disappeared and at the end of Sigma 2 Kasumi was there watching Hayabusa but then makes you question why wasn't she playable till the sequel game I would have loved to see Kasumi's reason to watch over Ayane and Ryu in their respective stories

WRONG!!! Kasumi didn't kill Obaba in NGS2. She only watched the fight between Ayane and Obaba. Obaba was already dying, and the last thing she saw was Kasumi, and then she died. Kasumi did NOTHING. She just disappeared upon seeing Obaba dead. Nice try.

Metal92990 is right. Kasumi only watched the fight between Ayane and Obaba. It was Ayane who delt the finishing blow to Obaba, killing her. Kasumi only watched. Kasumi didn't even touch Obaba, so I'm afraid your theory is incorrect.

Kasumi would've tagged in if Ayane was having trouble defeating Obaba, especially since Obaba was even more powerful then, since Obaba had the Dragons Eye along with her and using it as a source of power. But since Ayane was doing a lot better than expected, Kasumi only watched. How sweet. Kasumi still watching over her sister, even though technically backl then, Ayane still hated her.

Sigma versions (specifically 2) really just can't catch a break without someone shitting on them. NG2 itself is a flawed and broken game, so Sigma is just Team Ninja's way of trying to coat Itagaki's shit in glitter by slapping band aids onto NG2 and making their own problems for Sigma 2. Stuff like this will always fuel fire for console wars imo.

I don't see how this is wasted potential, Rachel, Ayane and Momiji all have side stories in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Rachel is a fiend hunter who met Ryu in Ninja Gaiden, she is a fiend/human hybrid who has cursed blood that could fully turn her, she is after a fiend from the Vigor Empire, who started a fiend infestation in the statue of liberty. Ayane follows Ryu around quite a lot, my guess is because Hayate is friends with Ryu, she is also like a compass to tell Ryu where to go. Momiji Is a shrine maiden in Hayabusa village just like her sister Kureha, Kureha died in the first Ninja Gaiden with a lot villagers trying to protect The Dark Dragon Blade from Doku a greater fiend, not wanting the village to be attacked again she became Ryu's student, in Ninja Gaiden 2 Momiji is looking for a villager named Sanji who was kidnapped by 2 Tengu To me I had no problem with them, I think they were good side stories 👍
