You forgot one thing, ninjas had other weapons, like range weapons, such as shurikens, kunai's, firearms, blowguns, bo shuriken, bow and arrows, kusarigama, they also had explosives, like smoke grenades, dynamites... They also had distraction weapons, like tetsubishi, and again smoke grenades, they even used shurikens as a distraction, they also had short range weapons, bo staff, Naginata (aka spear), and swords (ninjato, Wakazashi, and katana), and they also used tanto (Japanese fighting knife), but then again, think about training, ninjas can run marathon's, kill their targets without fighting, survival skills, stealth... And Shàolín monks just fought, a ninja can simply outrun a Shaolin monk, hide from one, get into a hiding place and instantly kill one with a firearm, firearms are impossible to dodge, a Shaolin monk can win in combat, but ninjas have some insane tricks up their sleeves, I just have to give ninja the win

Well, in a movie, whoever the director or the script wants to win wins. I think it's risky to draw conclusions from scripted and choreographed fights about the real performance of the actors or the martial arts. In reality, of two opponents trained to the same level, the one who wins will depend on how they are feeling that day.

good heavens, we've built a phony culture around the Ninja based on movies and video games. While there were groups of Ninjas who who did well one to one, Not not all of them cold fight well and their job wasn't to fight well in a fair fight. Their job was to do important but immoral and dishonorable work that conventional warriors following conventional morality would not do. Lots of sneaking, stealing, spying, assassinating. The real ninjutsu is probably one of the more complexe martial art to master and really not everyone can master it... You got to dedicate your life to it in a very intensive life style Ninjutsu training oriented side by side with periods of meditations and some other sportive martial arts to keep your reflexe if you want to master it. And Ninjutsu is NOT a sportive martial art, it's a martial art for killing, making it unusable in a standard fight practice... I'm pretty sure that even coachs in Ninjutsu are generally not that much experimented in this art. It's a bit like trying to use the Tai-Chi in a real fight, good luck 😅 I don't believe that it is impossible, that is not what I'm saying but it's deffinitivly not for everyone to master it for real life use.

oh dear God, where to start with this shit. There was a fantastic documentary by National Geographic years ago on the Shaolin Monks. long and the short of it, until the invention of ballistics, they were unbeatable. Ninja are something into their own and the you need to understand REAL Japanese history to understand it. Basically Ninjutsu was developed after a defeated Samuri fled to China, learned the Articals Of War and the Chinese system of fighting and then returned to Japan. Ninja were mostly simple fishermen and farmers who looked after them selves and took revenge against the bad war loards of the time. Some of the war loards knew they couldn't beat the Ninja and so allowed them to exist without interference, but some would hire the Ninja as assassins which is where Hollywood steps in! Once hired as killers the those worries were no longer considered Ninja by their clan. Just murderers who knew Ninjutsu. Fast forward a few hundred years and the Ninja were used to descreatly guard the inner part of the Imperial Palace and were then absorbed into the Japanese police force. Knowing Ninjutsu does not make you a Ninja, nore knowing Kung Fu make you a Monk. Just like knowing Krav Maga does not you Israeli Special Forces. stop calling these "people" Ninja. And maybe pick up a book and learn some things! The truth is actually far more interesting for both Shaolin and Ninja than this BS
