I like them. However I feel some strategically placed bits of black (the belt buckle and a quick oil panel lining) would really help break up the blue a bit, take like 5 minutes and help the model pop overall.

Just a big black wash after the basecoat but before the zenithal steps would make some of those deeper recesses really stand out and increase the model contrast.

Yeah but 5 minutes per marine is about an extra 2 hours worth of work. I would say if he was just getting them combat ready, the panel lining isnt really needed here

The best thing about painting minis fast is that you can always go back and add more details, add more highlights, add more weathering. I do that with my battleready squads. After a few games I'll go back and add some scratches, some tattoos, scars or decals. It tells a story and makes me appreciate that one Squad even more.

looks like GW gave the greenlight! Lots of vids to watch today, and who better to start with than Ninjon! Should see lots of termies today from those who have been anxious to get them. I honestly cant wait for custom painted Nids that will be flooding the YT scene. Yo that box is dope seeing all those different painted termies on the side of it like that. And cool the models come with premade bases for beginners and those looking to get these quickly on the table

The best approach to painting a squad fast should be to have "Daryl" paint them. "Paint hard, paint fast, no fear in this dojo".... We need a new Daryl video to watch 100 times instead of watching everyone elses Leviathan painting tutorials... The terminators look great! The way you painted the helmet was amazing.

I'm going to try this with a purple primer to see if it'll put some more contrast on the armor. I think that helmet looks fantastic with that blue shadow and the contrast made it pop. The blue armor needed a bit more contrast after seeing that helmet, and switching to purple may be the right answer since it just replaces a single step.

Great tip on putting a little bit of cement on the peg for the push fits! Thanks for sharing!
@StephenLeaSheppard
@StephenLeaSheppard Жыл бұрын
If I could add an extra tip: sometimes the length of the peg and the length of the hole it’s designed to fit into are so precisely matched on these push-fit minis that adding glue can make the peg not fit all the way in, causing a gap between parts. I recommend snipping a half-millimeter off the tips of the pegs if you’re going to use plastic cement like that.
@yeahnah3erter
@yeahnah3erter Жыл бұрын
I always remove part of the end of the peg - the reason is that if you don't - there can be air pressure inside the tube bit from how tight the join is, which wants to force the pieces apart.

Good video, i REALLY appreciate you showing some actual process with the airbrush, alot of videos can be quite demoralising just seeing the footage of the fancy airbrush flawlessly spraying the model with a perfect finish first try. The blue basecoat working as the shadow for the helmets looks absolutely awesome for such an economical step, (i just wish my marines were blue) and they still great without the typical marine panel lining.

I never would’ve thought to keep the blue on the helmets and transition to a new color from that, but it’s a pretty cool effect. I like the color scheme of the head dude’s helmet-red transitioning from blue with the bright eyes. It has sweet 90s backlight/laser tag vibes to it. I’d love to see a whole figure painted that way.

I love how the white helmets turned, really nice touch the transition to blue shade. I would still spend a couple more hours on them to get some elements like the belts, air vents and joints in a different colour so it's not almost entirely blue.

3.07 that is almost exactly how I clean my airbrush between colors. One thing that I have learned to avoid is backflowing the airbrush because it causes paint to get into the body of the airbrush and will dry there and can cause the needle to not move as smooth anymore.

nice work and a really good guide for someone trying to get battle ready quickly. I'll stick the 'contrast over white' spray effect into my own arsenal as that worked really well! One thing, I feel like the eggs on the base were too bright/white. They pulled my eye away from the models as they were the largest bit of bright on the model. It might be worth pulling them back with some dull brown/green so they still show but don't pull the eye as much.

Appreciate the focus on getting through the squad in a playable, quality level rather than trying to make the squad look like box art. I always set out to get through a squad (or even a single model) and then end up getting lost in the weeds and lose interest. This video helps focus on a good combo of speed and effectiveness.
