Great technique! In the beginnig he even does some bendings, not usually heard in flamenco guitar. One thing about the percussion box is that Paco de Lucia brought it with him from Peru where he was touring and saw the percussionists of Afro-Peruan music using a sort of box to make rythm.Since then this instrument called "cajón" in Spanish has been widely used in flamenco.

This was an excellent fun piece I really enjoyed not only the song but the performance! Yeah its an instrument that has really just started to be widely utilized here in the scheme of things! Really havent seen its use until the last 10 or 15 years here but nowadays they are used in all sorts of genres!

One of the most important parts of flamenco is the compás, the rigorous tempo that each "Palo" (variant) has is sacred. In many performances they can be marked by clapping or by any other percussion that embellishes the piece (cajón, electric bass, etc.) other times it is the same guitarist who marks it with his foot or with his blow on the wood (normally in the tonic note)... in the end it magnifies...

The timings used in Flamenco are really unmatched as well as how they are executed!

and about the time, in fandangos the time cycle is traditionaly 12, with accents on 1, 4, 7, and 10, but they just made it a 6 beat cycle, which has accents on 1 and 4. but a lot of people count in a 3 beat cycle, with accents on 1. the 12th beat is silenced in most of the falsetas and passages, but it can be played softly. but the cool thing about fandango is the fact that falsetas start on different beats. that means if a falseta starts on the 10th beat, the player has to end the compas on the 9th beat, and start the falseta on the 10th beat.

let's get out of the paco field, i would recommend you to react to sancular's oracion, tomatito's bulerias, moraito's buleriando, and vicente's tio arango this is just the start of your flamenco journey, these are the best pieces to star listening to these maestros. moraito and paco are my personal favorites in flamenco guitar, both for different reasons. moraito might not be as good as paco technique wise, but good god... i consider him the god of compas.. even paco was out of compas a few times, but i have never heard this man be out of compas.. he just throws in random 32th silences or random 16th notes in the middle of a fast falseta. if you see his concerts, after every single piece of music he plays, he gets a loud standing ovation, even paco doesn't get a standing ovation after every piece or song, but the flamenco audience understand just how insane what he just played is. and other than being the god of compas, he also makes one of the best sounds out of his guitar!

Deberías observar algo con "castañuelas", otro instrumento recurrente muy unido al flamenco. Algo así... kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpvLgmOlfdZol6s

I'v actually been surprised none of the music I have gone through so far has had it (or them) in any of it, especially with all the hand and foot work that we have been talking about!
