Niño Ricardo is one of the legends of flamenco. I love your videos about Paco - it’s so nice to see your reactions and thoughts about this beautiful music.

I am Spanish and I am glad to see that an American is interested in my musical culture. We Spaniards are not very keen on sending robots into space or inventing social networks, but we are generally good at art and eating well. Paco is a good example of this. Greetings.

Greetings! Absolutely! Spain has a lot to be proud of with everything it has brought to the world without a doubt! I have a great admiration it and enjoy learning more about it! It has been a place I have wanted to visit for some time so it has been a pleasure learning about it especially in this way! I wish I would have known about Paco and Flamenco a lot sooner I think it would have had a big impact on my own playing but better to have found it all later than never at all!

Paco de Lucía, great as always. He was always a great ambassador of Spain throughout the world. Fortunately, his genius and mastery were recognized while he was still alive. Greetings and thank you.

Niño Ricardo was first Paco´s idol and as a child he was thrilled to play Ricardo´s things,until he met the great Sabicas who told him he was pretty good playing those Niño Ricardo things but he should try to create his own stuff.Paco really took the old master´s advice! Among the right hand techniques Paco uses here you find the "tremolo" in minute 1:58 of your video,"rasgueao" in minute 2:50,"picado" in minute 6:13,and "alzapúa" in minute 6:40.All of them can´t be done with a pick as you pointed in the video.Greetings from Spain!

Greetings! This was a pretty wild piece with more techniques than I could possibly explain in one video! Actually still trying to wrap my head around some of it! I have seen on the news that you are dealing with some flooding issues in some areas, I hope you and yours are keeping safe!
@danielperezcabezas109Ай бұрын
@@TheKillogicEffect Thanks for your care.Luckily I don´t live on the flooded area.The region that suffered all that destruction is Valencia.11 days after the rain and they´re still trying to take the mud from the streets and homes.3000 tons of mud everyday!!! It´s going to take a lot to make things work again down there.My father lived in Valencia in his younger years and I have some friends there who fuortunately are safe.

Zooming in on flamenco thumb techniques: one technique is indeed similar to 'slapping like on a bass', but the rapid thump sequence near the end of this piece uses the thumb in both up and down direction: thumb down, thumb down on one or more adjacent higher strings, thumb up on one or multiple strings. The timing is triplets, the technique is called "alzapua" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYO1daBmo9aZqpY

Yeah the amount of technique on display is incredible! Thank you for the insight and info as well as the link! It has been a joy learning about all this and I'm looking forward to learning more! Spain has a lot to be proud of and I can totally understand why Paco is such a legendary icon!

thinking this guy dont even read or write on paper its all on his brain, and almost all his music its just him freestyling showw that his flamenco was not a "math" thing but more of a "soul" thing, my eyes always have tears when listening to him

Sorry, don't mean to spam, but your enthusiasm for flamenco is close to my heart. I have devoted couple of decades to developing flamenco technique in playing guitar and I am delighted to see someone relatively new to the craft. Would you like to give it a try and learn flamenco guitar? you mentioned you are not new to playing, so the process would not be extremely difficult. With enthusiasm and motivation, I guarantee, you could expect signifficant results withing 3-5 years.
@TheKillogicEffect2 ай бұрын
Thank you! No worries! I have thought about trying to learn it and have played around with some techniques incorporating them into my own playing but I would have to get a different guitar to really learn accurately
@e.h.58492 ай бұрын
@@TheKillogicEffect that's terrific to hear. Hope to see you playing some of it!
@e.h.58492 ай бұрын
You are right, plectrum (guitar pick) is for a completely different style of guitar music. One specific difference using individual fingers on the right hand is that there is plenty much control of the tone, projection, color, strength and mostly, most importantly, flesh of the finger comes into contact with the string first and thenwith the nail pressing toward the soundboard and finger landing on the next string. it's a very different technique, even position of the wrist is very different.
@TheKillogicEffect2 ай бұрын
Yeah the amount of techniques he is using in just his picking hand could take up a whole video to explain and it would be a pretty long video...lol

You are cool, man. I Wish when I travel to the USA I want to stop for a sandwich and a beer in the 66 and find you in the bar. And for you. This is pure flamenco. The roots of Paco. But he developed more and more to create the new wave for spaniards. Only a genius can do thaqt. Coming from the authentic roots.

Hello, liking your videos as always... I just wanted to add something, for whoever it may concern: the arpeggio at the beginning that sounds like three melodies at once is called "flamenco tremolo," which differs by only one note from the classical tremolo... The technique is to play a bass note with the thumb, followed by four notes with the index, ring, middle, and index fingers. I leave a link if someone is interested in the basic technique. kzbin.infotvE1pABltHE?si=xpIk-fXdkoInEi_S kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIbGiHWPd9tgjsksi=vEAWcsE9bsq8gY4Y
