I really like the normal 2ds. The screen may be smaller but it looks a lot less pixelated than the 2ds xl one does. I also appreciate the price of the 2ds. I bought the green Zelda Ocarina of Time 2ds bundle for $80 and thought it was a great deal!

That's what I thought too. I saw the 2ds XL in store and thought the screen was very pixelated compared to my 2ds. That's why I love the smaller size screen. I know some people say that the screen is to tiny but I have never had a issue. And plus my gamboy color, advance sp, and D's lite where all great sizes in my opinion.

I think mentioning the 2DS XL's additional features would've been more informative than comparing its core design to the original 2DS. The XL variant is based on the New 3DS, except it doesn't have 3D and has a new design that's both smaller and lighter. The 2DS XL might be more expensive than the regular 2DS, but that's because it's the budget version of the New 3DS, which includes the built-in NFC reader (a huge selling point for anyone into collecting amiibos and using them in-game-so, for example, the 2DS XL would be ideal for Animal Crossing fans who would like to stay within a budget), a faster processor (which seems to be the primary reason why you personally like it), and access to New 3DS exclusive titles (yes, there are New 3DS exclusives other than Xenoblade Chronicles 3D) as well as the SNES virtual console (those games only run on the New 3DS line, which includes the New 2DS XL). So yeah, I don't think the choice can or should be boiled down to "one is dirt cheap and comes with a free game while the other is faster and doesn't come with a free game." Makes sense as a subjective decision but since this video seems to aim at informing viewers, I'd say it did a bad job at that since it didn't factor the other features of the 2DS XL which actually make it far more attractive than the regular 2DS. Short-term, the regular 2DS's price sure is appealing but in the long run, the 2DS XL is the clear winner. It's important to remember that gaming should be treated as an investment at times. Subjective opinion for subjective opinion, I'd recommend the 2DS XL because it's the budget version of the New 3DS. If y'all want the cool features of the New 3DS but can't spend that much, then the 2DS XL is certainly the way to go. And yes, those loading times will matter A LOT especially if you're looking to play the latest Pokemon generation (both the original games and the Ultra versions run terribly on old 3DS-line models during most battles, and I say that from experience). But additionally, you'll also be able to play some sweet SNES classics and New 3DS exclusives if you're ever inclined to play those. I hear Xenoblade Chronicles is wonderful-though I fail to see the appeal of a story-driven MMO design when so many actual MMOs have managed that direction of questing and grinding much better.

overall when it came to the 2DS XL while the design did have the clamp shell gimmick and also came with the controls on the new 3DS XL, compared to the original 2DS it was night and day and I'm sorry to say it but even though the system was faster then the original 2DS the system still had the newer one beat when it came to quality, sturdiness, and comfort

For me, it comes down to price and build quality. My biggest reason for considering the 2DS is the build quality. I had the 3DS XL (Loved it) never used the 3D though, cause it ended up hurting my eyes after long periods of time. I feel that the clamshell design is just not good for long term. That hinge can only last so long.

Another point for people who like grips with their portable console is that grips for the New 2DS XL are really easy to find on Amazon or eBay ... while if you are looking for a grip for an OG 2DS, most of what you will find will be another 2DS XL grip. If they cut the price of the New 2DS XL to around $120, I'm upgrading ... otherwise I'm one the fence.

New 2DS XL. Recently purchased one and its great. Other than the tiny stylus. Its much faster than the flat 2DS. Dual-core 266 MHz ARM11 MPCore processor vs Quad-core 804 MHz ARM11 MPCore processor. Can play all the New 3DS exclusive titles. Bigger screen. Upper: 3.53" vs 4.88" and Lower: 3.02" vs 4.18". Better button layout and more compact clam shell design.

not sure why but I enjoy my DS/3DS line of games more than my switch. Even after having the original 2ds, 2ds XL, 3ds xl, new 3ds xl, switch, and ps4 pro I game the most on my 2ds xl because of it's size, weight, folding design to protect screen in my pocket, and laundry list of games in the library for it. Nintendo switch is a great system and has a lot of good games. I enjoy the indie games I found for it. Right now on my Switch I've been playing Fernz Gate from the Eshop which I am loving and I am also playing Dragonball Fighter Z and Rocket League. I know I need to play BoTW and Odyssey and they are both up on the shelf right now but atm I am having a lot of fun with these indie games. I'm sure lots of people will say I'm crazy but I've never really played JRPGs before and for me it's all new and a breath of fresh air. Also never thought I'd like Rocket League but its actually tons of fun!

They sell grips for the 2ds xl that act like an Xbox remote, making it more comfortable to hold. If you’re worried about hand cramps with the new 2ds, don’t be because a grip solves the problem

I really like your videos, but there are some reasons why I still prefer old 2DS over the New 2DS : - Form factor, I have DSi LL, GPD XD and the 2DS is way more comfortable for my hands (and I have small hands), using GPD XD or DSi LL for a longe time makes my hand hurt, specially if i'm playing games like Megaman. - Screen size x resolution, the 2DS and 2DS XL have the same resolution (400x240 on upper screen and 340x240 on the lower screen) and the XL screen makes 2D and 3D games pixelated (same goes for DSi XL vs DS Lite), so the games looks better on old 2DS. In this video you cannot see any scanlines in the old 2DS footage but in the New 2DS XL you can see scanlines + rainbow effect of the scanlines.

Sandslashy I had the original 2ds and upgraded to the 2ds xl not too long ago and the upgrade was nice but one big thing that kinda bothered me was on the xl you notice the pixels more cuz the screen is bigger where the original kept the image looking clean. If you want performance I’d recommend the xl but if you want a cheap quality handheld like ray mentioned I would go for the original 2ds

I want to buy a 2DS (coming from a GBC!), and I can't make up my mind on which version to buy. The 2DS XL seems lovely, but I really worry about the durability of the hinge. I'm not planning on tossing it around or something, as I'll probably just play it at home to catch up on 10+ years of Pokémon games (and Nintendo classics!). I'd just like to keep playing the console 5+ years from now. Would a 2DS XL (properly taken care of) be as durable as a normal 2DS? Thanks!

Games look so much better on the original 2ds and 3ds. I own every iteration of the system except for the new 3ds which I believe they don't sell anymore.

Just get the 2ds xl u have a bigger library, stronger core or less lag on some games, and u dont need to worry about screen scratching Also easier to carry around

Playstation psycho if you swing the console around it will get a little loose but it doesn't just flops around. Just take care of it and try not to drop it

Man I am so freaking frustrated.I have wanted to buy a ds console for literally a decade and the 2ds xl is so pretty and appealing.On the other hand the 2ds is VERYYY cheap and a lot more affordable.But idk.Should I buy the 2ds now or save up a bit more for the 2ds xl??
