I havent used my 3DS in years and when I opened it the bottom screen works fine but the top screen is black but also turned on is this the only way to fix this issue?

If cleaning the top screen ribbon cables and the conectors where they plug in don't help, then you probably have to replace the top screen.

Mine has both of these problems exactly! I'm looking into the parts, do you think that is only way to stop the downward scrolling? Do you think I could just buy a new lower screen too?

I have only had one 3DS with this problem so I don't know. I don't think just changing screens helps though.

Hey my 3DS has the same issue were the top screen is dim. I have install two new screens and every time I do the top display is black displaying no content but I still can change the brightness and 3d. Do you know what the issue could be?

The only thing I can think of is the connectors for the ribbon cables. If one of them don't make a good contact or is broken.

Just have patience with the ribbon cables :) Also they are pretty fragile so take your time.

Just IPA. It is possible to fix but definitely not an easy task. Good Luck !

I accidentally snapped my 3DS in half and it won’t turn on anymore which made me really sad because I literally have like 5 years worth of data in there and it’s my whole childhood so I was wondering if replacing the upper screen will eventually bring it back to life. I just want to play my 3DS again :’c

FINFixer Luc So it just works for the 3DS XL and not the original standard sized one from 2011 right?

​@@fukyu2 It might work for the standard size as well, have never tested it. But I would just go ahead and buy another working 3DS that is at least turning on and have a healthy top screen and maybe healthy shell, and then change motherboard to test.

If you mean that the top part has a loose or broken hinge then that is something that I could do a video of. I have one myself that has that problem. I don't know how to fix that have to open the 3DS and have a look first.

For scrolling issue I removed the resistor R118. Then I just put it back together.

@@PWood-gh5cq Still works no problems and the resistor wasn't loose. I just just tried the same thing as they did in gbatemp the link is under my video.The resistor i located under the gameslot. If you watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGWXZayPr9qbl6M at exactly 14:39 you can see the resisitor labels under the gamecartslot.

No trying to find the problem to movement issue I removed the d-pad. I thought the d-pad was the problem to scrolling issue. It was not.

@@ailtonsouza6951 I have not found one yet, so If you do let me know :) If the battery is full and it still wont do anything I would open it up and look for burned components or actually anything that looks suspicious.
