Nintendo 64 Longplay - Diddy Kong Racing Part 4

Part 4 of this Longplay run. Emulator of choice: Mupen64-rr-v8. Recorder used: BB Flashback Pro. And as you can gather, I got it working in widescreen.
This ain't a perfect run, and I have no intentions on making it so. Nor do I plan on using cheats. Once I at least find the key in each world, I proceed to play as usual. And yes, I did an in game restart on some races. Either from focusing on getting some keys, knowing that by getting them I wouldn't finish the race. Or, because of mistakes I made.
And considering the time I spent recording these videos, I'm not deleting them. Took too long recording each one, so not caring about perfection. Sorry.

Greenwood Village is probably the worst course when it comes to the Silver Coin Challenge.

I loved to race on the tracks by the whole locations. (imitating Marge): That was no accident. Shame on you, Nelson. (imitating Cartman): Ha, ha, ha, ha! So long, Kyle! (without imitating): I loved to race with Pipsy, Bumper, Timber and Banjo unless they couldn't beat me anymore. I had to race with them, collect silver coins and challenge for the trophy race. Well, it was wonderful to visit with you. Jimmy Kielbasa out.

Hi. Can people explain to me the process of N64 emulation? Someone at a local game store told me it is terrible, but it seems okay here. I have a pretty average laptop computer, and am not very tech-savvy. I don't want to receive any viruses, or anything that will make the computer malfunction. And I also don't want to use up all space on the computer. My biggest interests as far as 64 games go are Goldeneye and Diddy Kong Racing. The other Rareware games like Bajo Kazooie might be nice as well, but those 2 are my priorities. I've owned them two times now, but just can't keep the system and all its wires around anymore. Especially since I only go back to them every once in a while. My biggest reason for hanging on to Goldeneye is that I love playing it with the 64 controller. Is there a way for me to do that through the laptop? Thanks

+GymGyp Hey, I know you asked this three months ago, but maybe this can help a bit: In general, N64 emulation works pretty well. A few games are glitchy or unplayable, but most Rare (or Nintendo!) games should be fine. I've played through Goldeneye, DKR, and others with few or no issues. You can even play them in 1080p! You may need to tweak a few settings to get things looking and sounding as nice as possible, but it should all be pretty decent even by default. I use Project 64, which is a good emulator, but BE VERY CAREFUL with the installer. Unfortunately, it will install unwanted software if you just click "Yes" on everything. Read the instructions carefully, and skip/cancel anything you don't want. As far as hardware requirements go, any computer from the past decade should be able to handle Nintendo 64 emulators like PJ64 just fine. And the games are between 4 and 64 MB each, which is basically a non-issue these days. The N64 controller would require a USB adapter. I know they exist, but don't know any more than that. Just using a PC or Xbox controller, though, should work fine for most games. (Give the mouse and keyboard a try for Goldeneye, too!) Still, it's hard to beat using the original controller. Give the emulator a try, but I wouldn't go throwing away the console just yet.

Thanks! How do you connect an xbox controller to pc? Can you do the same with a PS3 controller? I have tried, but activating the controller seems to be internet dependent.

GymGyp If it's an Xbox 360 controller, it should be easy- I think it installs automatically when you plug it in. PS3 controllers and even Wii Remotes can connect if you have a Bluetooth adapter in your computer, and those are supposed to be easy, too. (Unless your computer doesn't have Bluetooth, of course.) Original Xbox would involve replacing the tip of the cord. Not sure about Xbox One. I can look into it a bit more, later on.
