F-Zero 99 is very much Nintendo gauging series interest. Anybody wanting a full-on new entry, play this like there's no tomorrow. Edit: Just to make it clear, this announcement excited me, and the game has tremendous value both in concept and execution. I'm not writing it off. At the same time, it does feel like Nintendo wanted to see what interest there was in the series, and it's been a strong & positive resonse.

On the surface it's easy to write this off as a Federation Force / Nuts & Bolts situation because it's a battle royale game, but at the same time, F-Zero 99 *is* technically what F-Zero fans have been asking for: an F-Zero game, distinct from Mario Kart, that has online play with other players. The only real sticking point I've seen is the graphics being based on the SNES entry in the series rather than the later entries.

I think the thing people forget about F-Zero is that the series has been dormant for years. This is a way to gauge actual interest in the series and if not just talk. Plus remakes for most games usually just make sure its more available and accessible for people. Not a lot of people are going to buy old systems and old games that in some cases have been driven up by scalpers and the retro market Otherwise this direct is great for me.

TTYD made me cry too, for so long that sequel was buried to time, SMRPG and PM made it to the Wii Shop, but not TTYD while i was paying attention to it. now this classic can be enjoyed again, i hope the sales are so high that Nintendo understands that it's not the gimmicks that made us love PM, but the accessible and fun RPG gameplay.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is without an question the highlight of this direct. This is gonna put the modern Paper Mario games; starting with Super to Origami King, way behind us and given them something on what makes the Paper Mario franchise really good to begin with. I would've also liked an remake of Paper Mario 64 as well. I know u can play the original on Switch Online now. But I would've been more happy if we got Paper Mario 64 remake getting the same treatment as TTYD. Regardless, I'm still happy with TTYD remake. I'm looking forward to it and hopefully 64 will be next. Second highlight is Princess Peach Showtime. The Mushroom Kingdom princess has finally gotten another game after waiting for like over 15 years and it looks amazing. Last might be Tomb Raider 1, 2 & 3 Remastereds Collection.

6.5/10 Some fun stuff, fair amount of filler, but to be fair the June/July direct was stacked as heck. Also 1:18:50 is exactly my thought when it comes to remakes etc. i missed out on a LOT of stuff when I was younger, due to my first console being the DS, and only having a couple games per year for that and the Wii until the 3DS when I could buy my own games.

- I might, _might_ check out the Another Code Duology. Looks interesting enough - Same kinda goes for Super Princess Peach’s Successor, just with one less might lol. Looks quite appealing - Honestly Trombone Champ looks like a lot of dumb goofy fun. Seems like one of those games where you know 4-players would be utter chaos, but in the most hilarious way possible XD Luv it! - Hmm, I have wanted to check out OG Contra for some time… - It’s impossible to tell how F-Zero fans feel right now lmao - More Wii Fit Wario Ware! - Nothing to do with the characters or stages, they’re all great, fantastic even (sans Peachette, she’s just a tad less than okay I guess), but man for the final wave of a game that’s been holding on for more than 5 years (technically around 9 years now) the presentation is just so underwhelming - And finally, Paper Mario fans rejoice, myself included, and I haven’t even played the GCN original I will say I got partially spoiled on F-Zero and TTYD. I thought the former was a brand new game (or a remaster) and that the latter would just be a port onto the Switch. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised (about TTYD just so I’m clear) Overall, the direct gets an 8/10. Good stuff

Nintendo is great at giving us games we wanted like 10 years ago, like I’ve since then bought a PC and emulated the game so it’s not as exciting as it could’ve been. As far as I’m concerned, a Trace Memory remake and new Vanillaware game completely made the direct peak for me. Literally the only thing that would have made it better would’ve been a new Metroid game or a new Xenoblade game, and there’s no way the latter would’ve happened any time soon.

The people who were gonna play the game with major HD texture packs on Dolphin aren't the ones who will buy the remaster anyways (In fact, they'll probably nitpick every issue with it just to say Dolphin's better).

@@northwindkey Not necessarily. I pirate/emulate/use backups all the time but I’ll buy remakes from time to time. They just need to check the right boxes (mainly, that they are priced affordable). Like the Pikmin 1 and 2 collection, I bought that for 50 bucks. 25 per GC seems about right to me. It’s when they charge $60 for a game with a face lift that bugs me. Nintendo is releasing “TTYD with higher resolutions”, meanwhile Capcom is completely remaking Resident Evil games from the ground up. I just think Nintendo has gotten greedy, particularly when it comes to 6th gen. and later. You KNOW that they could be putting those up on the e-shop for like 20 bucks but they don’t because they want to squeeze every God damn dollar out of nostalgia nerds. That I cannot abide. And this is coming from someone who bought Super Mario RPG and both Paper Mario games on release day back in the day. I LOVE those games… but they just want to much without giving us any value. Besides, both those games still look fine. Personally, I don’t really like what they did with SMRPG. That generic shiny Mario look they did? That’s way less charming than the original. Now if they had redone the entire game in a claymation style or something, now that I could get behind. TLDR; Nintendo isn’t giving us enough value for what they are charging.
