I am convinced now that Switch 2 will be backwards compatible and similar to Switch 1 and so Nintendo wants to remove the biggest hurdle out of their way because they fear that these emulators could one day open a path for easy jailbreak of the Switch 2 and once it is jailbroken opened up, emulators are not out of the water.

I think it is very sad for future preservation that these emulators were taken down, on the other hand I kinda understand it, because the Switch is still a current gen system. I think they should have started the Switch emulation development after the announcement of Switch 2. Just my opinion, when it comes to emulation there is no right or wrong opinion, is pretty much a gray area but I think it is very important for preservation.

Experience with Dolphin and CEMU tells me that they should just wait a few years before doing anything Switch Emulation related and they'll be fine. People love to mention how Dolphin coexisted with GC, but don't mention in what state it was compared to Switch emulation.

Something like Xbox One is actually the easiest modern console to emulate, but we're only now getting any progress with it, because no one cared to do it. We're getting to the point where probably only Nintendo consoles will have emulators because Sony and Microsoft port everything on PC anyway.

The thing that almost nobody is pointing out is that this basically confirms the theory that the next console will have backwards compatibility with the Switch. I would theorize that they're trying to protect that aspect, especially this close to a new console on the horizon. The first Switch has a Tegra X1 which is Maxwell but the new Switch will use the Tegra T239 which has Ampere, both are very well documented so getting a OG Switch emulator to work with Switch 2 games might be way easier than having to develop a new emulator from the ground up.

It's important to remember that Ryujinx didn't use games before release to make optimization, the emulator was just so good that it could already run those games. Yuzu specifically did put out patches to Tears of the Kingdom before release, but Ryujinx waited for release before making any optimizations for that game. Same story with Echoes of Wisdom, except no more Yuzu. Again, Ryujinx played it fine with no updates during that time that Echoes of Wisdom was leaked.

Halo's downturn started as soon as it left Bungie's hands. Same thing happened to Gears of War once Epic was no longer in the driving seat. The same thing could happen to Evil Within if Microsoft ever hand the keys off to another developer. I think what Krafton needs to do is get Tango Gameworks' purchase completed, wait a year or two to get Hi-fi Rush 2 released, and then look at purchasing the Evil Within IP from Microsoft if they haven't decided to anything with the IP. And then we may see Evil Within 3.

Usually after couple of years they don't care to extend the license and we don't have physical media any longer, Hi Fi even on Xbox was digital only, so yeah. If you bought it digital before the music license went out, you should still be able to have all the original music but if you bought it years later you will sadly have a inferior second version of the game, same happened to similar games, that's why I recommend people to buy it now, if they are interested in Hi Fi Rush.

I don't think the agreement was Nintendo threatening legal action. Because the person who created the emulator was in Brazil and because of the laws there Nintendo couldn't go after them like Yuzu. I'm think more like an offer was made possibly for the creator of Ryujinx to give Nintendo everything for X amount of money and when you look at a emulator your not making money on vs just accepting an agreement to sell it to Nintendo so they own it like Yuzu. Either that or Nintendo sent real Ninjas to Brazil to serve that cease and Desist.

It is more of a press/market thing. Nintendo does not want emulators that can run their first party games better than their current hardware. Ryujinx was MIT license, so anybody can fork it and pick up development. I'm sure the "agreement" ensures its primary dev (gdkchan) is not allowed to participate, but it doesn't stop the project from continuing under a different name by different devs. Unlike yuzu, which had contaminated code and so any offshoots are forbidden fruit, Ryujinx by all accounts did not.

FF XVI not being on Xbox is Sony's doing. I'm not a programmer but PS5 is an AMD x86 processor, and it's been ported to PC already. Technically they're 90% of the way there. I know they are custom chips but they can't be so different they have to do that much work. Release every game for every console and let the consumer decide. If studios have decided there's not enough profit in Xbox ports that's understandable but if Sony is blocking Xbox sales that's not ok. I will never again own a Sony product (last was PS2). If it's not on Xbox I'll do PC. I've been playing more on PC lately anyway. I'm sure there will be plenty of people from the Sony camp supporting them but I won't be reading their comments so it doesn't matter. I hate to be so bitter but it's getting tiresome.

As much as I like Mario Party the last 2 games were underwhelming for me. I ended up buying an indie game called Pummel Party that's basically Mario Party but you can play with up to 8 players, and the PC version supports Steam Workshop. They have the game on consoles now (Xbox, Playstation, & Switch) and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Mario Party. I'm gonna wait for reviews before I consider buying Jamboree.

I can't speak for other people, but I have three main reasons: Graphical enhancements like better resolutions and framerates. The convenience of being able to play so many games all at the same place, like my PC or my SteamDeck. Rom hacks. There are so many rom hacks that i can't even list them all. They give tons of new ways to play old games.

But it was always gonna happen eventually, if you honestly feel entitled to emulation of a still current console, that's a you issue not Nintendo. Some people can't see past their own nose though. BTW. I've been playing Echos at a locked 60FPS no performance issues at all on the last build of Ryujinx. I still bought the game, I just wanted to play it at a higher framerate and resolution. So if you think I'm against emulation, I am very much not. I only emulate because Nintendo sucks and is still selling 2012 hardware they released in 2017. But getting mad at a company stomping out piracy shows how small brain you are.

Why is there a switch emulator?? I thought emulators were for systems that were no longer being supported by the company. I'm no fanboy of ANY of these companies as I'm under no illusion that they actually care about me or other gamers outside of our contribution to their overall statistics. That said I find it very hard to feel sympathy for people emulating a Nintendo Switch when the system is still being sold and supported. I could be misunderstanding so if I am please fill me in on why this is ok or makes sense. I personally fully support emulators for games that are from PREVIOUS generations. It's important for a number of reasons, most notably for game preservation. However for current generation games?? I don't know about that. If I am misunderstanding something here( which is very possible) then I am open to discussion if anyone wants to fill me in. Based on my current knowledge it seems stupid to emulate current systems when you can just buy the system. Also while I'm at it, this gives these out of touch companies reason to go after people emulating older generation games even though that wouldn't affect the company at all. It's easy for them to loop it all together.

The problem with halo is that master chief needs to retire. They had a replacement with spartan locke. The next game needs to have a multiplayer campaign like halo 3; stop cloning master chief for the campaign and let the immortal superhero retire.
