I feel like something that would make this podcast better is having a Nintendo subject matter expert on your team. I think the lack of discussion of the Mario + Luigi series, weak discussion of DKC series, there are often times where you guys don't know anything about a series until a new switch game comes out. Maybe some of you should start digging into your backlog and play the full series of certain franchises? I'd start with WarioLand bc at the next WarioLand reveal it would be disappointing to hear - "oooh looks nice, this will be my first one" from virtually everyone Personalities and discussion are still great, and I think the pod and you guys are all awesome!

Absolutely. I'm not even the biggest Nintendo fanboy and the amount of times I say, "What? You haven't played any of those games?" is pretty often. "Mario & Luigi" was great on the GBA & the DS (fell off hard on the 3DS) and Brothership has some potential. Hopefully it's one of the good ones! Donkey Kong Country games are great too. DKC 1 & 2 on SNES were amazing at the time and I even convinced myself that DK 64 was pretty good too.

Gene made a really good point at the end of this episode--that this Direct was particularly notable for providing plenty of fan groups something they had been waiting a long time for. On that note, it saddens me a bit that the Brick-fisters didn't talk about the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection at all. The first game is fine, but the second game in the collection is a HUGE win for Ace Attorney fans, as it was the last remaining installment that had never left Japan. 13 years later, Capcom is finally gracing the rest of the world with it, and it's one of the best games in the series!

Bro Nintendo absolutely cooked today with this Direct - Zelda game with Zelda as an actual main character, Prime 4 gameplay, new Mario and Luigi, Dragon Quest Remakes, NSO shadowdrops, Ace Attorney Edgeworth games finally getting localized, Mario Party, Fantasian finally getting ported, Donkey Kong Country Returns finally in HD with 3DS content included, MAHVEL FINALLY BACK HAD ME SCREAMING DUDE! Fantastic showing imo and a great sendoff to Switch 1's final year.

Man this is a 10/10 direct for me, looking at the big names. Bowser’s Inside Story is one of my favorite games ever, so a new M&L game was a HUGE shock! The new Zelda looks super inventive, DKC Returns is a classic, and I’m looking forward to how Prime 4 brings some modern game design to that series since Prime 1 Remastered was conservative with gameplay changes. These games just need to come out sooner!! 🥺

This was one of the best directs in recent memory. So many titles to play before the Switch 2 releases! I love SquareEnix's trend of producing more HD-2D games. Dragon Quest looked excellent!

"HD-2D" is what gets made when there isn't enough budget for 3D. I despise such cheap "nostalgia" exploitation. There's no excuse for 2D games to be made by established studios anymore. The best 2D games that were ever made or ever will be made were created in the 90s or early 2000s. Nothing made in two dimensions will ever measure up to those past titles, so there's no reason to linger in that out-dated gaming format. That era is over and devs need to get the hell out of the past and remind themselves what year it is.

Doesn't even come close to the last us us and Metroid doesn't even show things like faces and hair that really show off fidelity. It's all just shiny metal surfaces and rocks. I guess the lighting is slightly better in Metroid than in Heavenly Sword? I want better from Nintendo man. Not asking for excellence here

Prime 4 looks this good(i'd say on par with Halo 4 cuz thats a gorgeous game for its hardware) and runs at 900p60fps? Idk wtf else you expect out of a 7 year old tablet with internals from 2015.

@@alexlyster3459They announced two good new things of note Clair Obscur 33 Expedition and FragPunk. Other than that the showcase was a waste of time. They barely showed any significant gameplay for most of their games-most notably Fable, and State of Decay. Even Perfect Dark was chopped up makes me wonder if they were afraid to show it. Nintendo on the other hand not only showed us gameplay AND story, but told us about the games and what we can do in it. Kinda crazy now we don’t care about seeing gameplay at showcase all of a sudden. Guess as long as the graphics look good it’s okay. 🤦‍♂️ 🤡
