Oh my GOD, I had the Smoochum purple one when I was a kid with the Pokemon Party, Zany Cards, Pinball and Puzzles games, in it's cute little pink case with a little smoochum charm and everything. I frickin' loved this thing so much. My family couldn't afford a game boy and I was in hospital a lot as a kid with a chronic illness and this thing was my saving grace, I played it for hours. When I was like twelve the battery exploded and my parents threw it out but god I miss this thing, I wish they were more accessable to get hold of these days and not like hundreds of pounds. The nostalgia of even watching them makes me emotional.

Wasn't released at regular retail stores according to wiki: It was first released in North America on November 16, 2001, and was only available for purchase at the Pokémon Center and via its website. This was followed by releases in Japan on December 14, 2001, and in Europe on March 15, 2002.

Yeah, no one seems to remember this machine. That Tetris is a really neat and fun version which I played a lot and now find myself wanting to dig out. I've found the other games (at least the handful I've played) pretty forgettable, however.
@dgeist46096 жыл бұрын
The reason it's so obscure is because the North American release was exclusive to the Pokémon Center NY during it's short run (2001-2005) and the Pokémon Rocks America touring events done by the same company during 2004. The system sold for $50 with the pack-in game and $20 for each of the two additional games. Buying all of it cost as much as the then newly-released Gameboy Advance, which was sold in the exclusive PCNY gold color in the display right next to the Minis. Add in more money for some official Mini accessories (like pouches, game holders, and even washcloths!) and it wasn't hard for consumers to turn away from the Mini. Pokémon Tetris wasn't even released in the North American market!!! By the time Gameboy SP was released, the Mini was reduced to something like $30 and we still couldn't sell them. I'm not sure what happened to our remaining inventory when the location was shut down. Probably destroyed like so much of the other cool stuff there. :*(

The pinball game actually is fairly similar to the original pinball games from the early 1900's. You pulled the plunger down and release it to send the ball to the top of the play field and it would hit the different obstacles in the field and end up in a trap of some sort. There are a few where you had to catch the ball at the bottom and use the plunger to send it back up into the play field and get it into a trap or hole to score points. These early pinball games didn't have the familiar flippers we know today.
@kropking6 жыл бұрын
