I used to work at a movie theater in college and we’d get the really nice posters and some really cool displays for movies that would just be kept in this big storage room. I brought home this huge Tron bike that lit up and everything and ended up selling it for $1500 as a college kid which is basically a millionaire then haha. I ransacked that storage room, there were posters over 10 years old just sitting for nobody to see or know about

You wonder if the owner or an old manager when through an archival phase. I used to have free access to this documentary film festival theater with a huge library and when it changed managers some of the more odd and unindexed stuff just disappeared. It was really frustrating

Turok Rage Wars, which was an N64 game and only had multiplayer mode. It 1st came out as a black cartridge and you had achievements you could earn. 1 of those achievements were not obtainable, due to a bug in the game. That one you could mail in for a fixed version of the game, but the cart you got back was grey.

I’ve talked to the Nintendo rep for the store I work for and asked about those and she told me the people that have that stole them. I don’t really believe them but still…LEGO recently put 3’ tall mini figures on the top of a LEGO endcap in a lot of our stores, I think one of those would be really awesome to get too!

Nintendo label them all up as "Property of Nintendo" for a reason. Anyone who buys one from a private trader is dealing in stolen goods and if anyone was to go after people for them, it'd be Nintendo. How many times it has changed hands is irrelevant

I got mine for 800$. His arm broke off in the during shipment but I didn't complain I fixed his arm. You can barely tell, luckily it had a clean break. Even it being "damaged" I feel it will hold it value and just go up! My best piece. And it's like a super hard Styrofoam type material. Almost remind me of spray insulation for your home.

So with prototypes, even if the company doesn't exist, the code can still be protected under copyright law.

The whole vibe in these conversations is that the legality or lack thereof is what creates the market. There's a prize card for a CCG I have played over the years that never got released. The game is starting to fail and I'm about ready to access their offices to find the file for this prototype, if not a printed version

This is business as usual for Nintendo. For example, after the seasonal promotional events in malls and such; all of the displays need to be completely destroyed. Then you need to take photographs and send them back to Nintendo. Sometimes this includes the new in box flat screen televisions used at the events after they are over as well. The consoles are usually sent back, but pretty much everything else, with the exception of the promotional swag is completely destroyed.

Nintendo doesn’t like it when other people make money off their IPs without their consent or without them profiting from it. Even if it’s something they already got paid for originally, then it ended up in the trash, but is now in the resell market as a collectible.

Statute of Limitations work in this circumstance? I think some people have a very skewed view on this subject. If its still current as a marketing item in its current run or gen is one thing but, if its older? I mean we go down that rabit hole.... how about antique salesmans samples. Or Oil and Gas signs. Or any old marketing item. Same thing isnt it? Like gimmi a break. Theres a line somewhere. And if it was meant to be destroyed thats legally on the business or employees, not the individual who has an undestroyed item today.

Zero reason not to take one from a store if this is the market Target and its management is setting by selling some at random
@danlowe2 ай бұрын
I can't even watch these kinds of episodes. This goes well beyond retail into the market of bootlegs, shoplifting, capital gains in general but as an item that's not for sale except by these means, it's not retail talk

@@-odinfire-2324 If it's true that all of them are stolen by Target employees, then it's trafficking in stolen goods. I kind of regret my original comment because I don't want to promote people getting in trouble for shoplifting, and if this channel shames free drinks then no reason to glorify stealing of any kind. Which I'm not. If anything I'm frustrated at Nintendo more than Target people (what's new) but this family of channels has been very open about the fact people collect bootlegs and many people have stuff like this that was abandoned by its original corporate owners. Cause that's what you're talking about, selling abandoned rather than stolen goods. When people start stealing in order to reserve something for the period when it's considered abandoned, that's what grinds me
@huntersausageandredbeardsh23602 ай бұрын
