It seems extremely odd that the Smash devs would make PAC-MAN's Up Taunt show a character in a set order instead of randomly in HRC. It doesn't affect the Sandbag at all, so why change it lol

Pure guess and speculation, but maybe all RNG-based events follow, or are affected by, a single algorithm which is disabled/set to a known value whenever in HRC. Furthermore, if this was true, I imagine it would be simple to do, making it a simple choice for the devs.

I was thinking it's possible that HRC uses a set seed for it's "randomness," and so things that use this particular random seed wind up being in the same order every time you play it. Pac-Man just happens to use the set seed. Meanwhile, I imagine all other events set a different seed each time said event is started.

You are correct, but it's also RNG based as well, so you're pointing out something that wouldn't effect the RNG in any way. If I held left, it would guide the meats in that direction, although if I held it and shot more, they'll be in a slightly different direction due to RNG.

My guess is that each variation is stored in a data matrix, and ordinarily there would be a Call Function that randomly selects one from the matrix, but HRC is likely overriding these Call Functions. Anything that was reprogrammed by hand now follows those new functions (ie Hero's spells are now always the same) and anything left unchecked is now defaulted to a new system that just takes each data matrix and moves through them in a set order.

probably because they just change how the rng algorithm works, not making another edge case for each random move. pure speculation, though could be wrong as game and watch normally cant get two of the same number in a row normally and some visuals still have randomness.

@@Blackoutdmc i meant that the program probably replaces the algorithm thats used to generate random numbers with something that generated the same number or patterns every time in hrc, based on how a lot of random events that are only visual still are consistent. looking back even if this is the case, hero still probably got their command selection chosen because it doesnt change when it is always the same, unlike most random events where it goes through a cycle. bummer

Some of these I wonder if the deliberate alteration to a mechanic for consistency's sake might just be a factor of some fixed RNG seed on the HRC stage. Pac-Man's Galaxian seems like it could easily be something like this; your odds of getting the same two flight patterns are pretty likely in any regular game.

This is probably because hrc uses a different rng seed that is set everytime hrc starts.

I don't know though. Some of the rng bits are completely impossible by rng and are just hard coded, such as Hero menu and Game and Watch 6 repeating themselves.

It means each individual thing like chance of critting is based of the same algorithm in the real game so this means some person didn't sit down and say "on the first hit he can crit and not the second" and so on. The seed allows it to be infinite. Sorry to make this so long. So based on the rng seed which is always the same upon starting a home run game it will make a decision to do something random. So rng seed=a certain random decision But then the rng seed changes according to a algorithm. So the new seed is then used to make a random decision. So it always has the same initial seed in home run so it always makes the same decisions when told to make a random decision. Oof. My thumbs hurt.
