NIO OS Walkthrough in English

This video is a complete walkthrough of the NIO user interface in English and a look at the NOMI assistant. From climate control & music to every last screen of the settings. This UI is very well made like you would expect it in a Tesla. In fact in some ways it goes a few steps beyond Tesla.

@@cleantechnica nio accessory. They have a massive nio store. The best part about nio in china is that if you have too many beers you can use your nio points and a guy will bike or metro to you and drive you home in your car. 😉. From what I hear nio is way more about the user experience and community than cars.

@@cleantechnica it's funny stuff. "Mr.p" is a Chinese nio guy who also speaks English who'd be a great resource. See his KZbin stuff. Also "crossing china" is an American living in china for 10 years who bought a nio and chronicles the experience and who travels to different nio houses to try their signature drinks. He has videos on the designated driver as well as having the nio mobile charging van come to him in inner Mongolia for a battery charge. Can't wait for your video.

great video! I asked a friend of mine, the switches for data and location and Nomi are respecting the privacy laws, so the driver and passengers can control the sharing of personal information. They probably have been described in the switch description.

Great job! As my search for a new EV primarily revolves around safety, I wish manufacturers would provide safety data. AEB, pedestrian detection max speed, how well does land Keep Assist work in various lighting conditions, does traffic are aware Cruise control adjust speed for curves, etc. Very excited to see front and rear cross traffic alert, but how well does it work, speed, distance, auto-brake? Are there any self-parking lot soon functions? Will the car be capable of Level 3 or above self driving in the future, highway only or city too? Again, thanks for the great review, best I have ever seen for any case car.

Omg I can't believe I forgot to add this to the video. The ES8 just recently got a 5 star crash rating. So ES8 comes with all the level 2 ADAS toys and should in theory be smart like Tesla's autopilot not like the Ford Mach-E. As for how well NIO Pilot works, I tried it, but Norway is the worst place to test it as you have near 90 degree turns at 70 km/h speeds that I can guarantee no other system except maybe Tesla's could handle, no straight highway roads. Doubt even autopilot could handle that. Once I can test it properly in the Netherlands, then I can tell you more about the reliability. The ES8 will never reach level 3 or 4 autonomy, but the newer ET7 will. Personally I guess/hope that the ES8 will have a refresh in the next year or two. If you have any other questions please let me know!

I actually didn't try that since I assume it's under development. Probably English, Norwegian and Chinese, but again I didn't try. Glad to hear you found this video useful!

So just so I understand no car from China - even if it's to be sold in Europe/US will have android auto (or carplay)? That's a bit of a bummer if so for an Android user like me. A phone mirror function would help a bit though I think.

Well I know it looks barebones for now but this thing actually runs on Android so developers will be able to adapt apps pretty easily.

as a chinese ES6 owner i should kindly warn you that nomi DOES respond slowly coz the SOC is obsolete and futher upgrade is planed......（it wont be very soon due to global chip shortage）

I mean in this case it's not a fully Chinese car. It was designed in Germany, programmed in the US and built. In China by a Chinese company and it makes use of international components, not just Chinese ones.

How on earth is that a dealbreaker? It's not the kind of smartpogne android you are talking about. All this means is that software can easily be adapted for use on this system and will work with all smartphones. So spotify for example does not have to write a whole new app but adjust an existing app.
