I could switch configuration as I wanted front row, always 2 2nd row: 3 (tight), 2 (spaced out), 1 on the side/center, remove all 3rd row: both up, 1 up/1 folded, both folded

The legroom seems fantastic - i have been a passenger in several taxi's in Copenhagen and the leg room was tiny in the small version of e.g. the Mercedes that was used, when the front driver moving his seat backwards. These cars will be fantastic to use as Taxi's -

The "what the heck is this thing" in the boot of the car is a towing hook. There are small rectangular lids in the bumpers both in front and in the back that when removed has threaded holes where you screw in the "what the heck is this thing".

The “thing” that you always ask about in the trunk. The “hook” is for towing the car 😄 On the front bumper there is always a small cap that can be removed and the hook can be screwed in 👍

The cargo space with 2nd row folded is 1900l, this is still not as much as a skoda kodiaq or a kia sorrento... some stationwagons even have more like the skoda superb combi with almost 2100l! What I'm saying is there is potential for an even bigger EV!

Thanks, great video. What about start doing a third banana box test? With these cars with sliding 2nd. rows you get a lot more space in these tests. But like me, and many others I'm sure, I'll probably keep the 2nd. row slided all the way back to make room for reversed child seats and general cabin space on long trips. So a third test in that configuration would be nice! :) Also, how can the load be secured when stowing to the roof on this 6 seater and 7 seater? Any sort of dog guard or net available to stop the cargo from flying forward?

you can get an idea when comparing ioniq 5 vs model y. Model Y take one more box with everything folded. but ioniq take one more than y with seats up, indicating that it wont probably do that with normal space in the 2nd row seat. But it is of course difficult when things are adjustable. I am 190cm and if I am to do the test sitting behind myself the result would be totally different.

nio has 2 batteries, the smaller battery is for the electronics when you do a batter swap

I think it is customary for cars with 'electronics' to plug a jump start battery into the car auxilliary plug before replacing the 12 V battery so you don't loose all the personal settings. I never tried but I think the only issue is to have a cable with two 12 V plugs male ends. I believe is what you explained in your comment ? Having a backup battery already present is a good idea. May be this backup battery prevent getting a 'brick EV' when the 12 V battery get bad?

No frunk = bad idea. BTW, that's a towing loop. Like the roof line for carrying canoes, etc. The downside is that the roof line contributes to the poor efficiency of the ES8. No free lunch in that regard.
