Kurt seriously wrote some of the sickest riffs, and his progressions were fucking perfectly put together and on top of that his vocal harmonies fit those riffs perfectly. He really was an amazing song writer. I don't care if some of his riffs are "easy to play" which, in my opinion every single band of ever has riffs that are easy to play. Some are more technical for sure but every song has a root and those are usually fairly easy to play. It's writing them that's hard and then doing it over and over again. Massive respect to Kurt and Nirvana. Krist is really a very very good bassist. He came up with some amazing lines to Kurt's songs. Lithium and lounge act are my personal favorites by Krist.

Everyone should just sit back and appreciate the fact that there was a time when some of the most popular musical artists had no desire to be main stream. They didn’t make sure to update social media pages, they weren’t trying to be influencers, they didn’t use every single form of media to personally promote themselves, they weren’t brand ambassadors for expensive bougie clothing companies that most of the masses couldn’t even afford. There was a time when some of the most popular artists of music we’re just kids that found an outlet for expression and the rest of the world was intrigued

Definitely wouldn’t describe Nirvana as “no desire to be mainstream” nor would I agree there was ever a time period where that was the norm. How you get there has changed a lot for sure over the years, but if you don’t think the Beatles would be doing all the things you mentioned in today’s age you have no clue what you’re talking about. Not any bands fault that’s how the game is played in the modern age
@wyleetolson91823 жыл бұрын
@@derekhibbard9018 That’s not really even the point of my comment dude. I’m just trying to have a fun recollection of a bygone time. But if you need to play devils advocate, go for it. Even when they were at the height of their popularity they hated interviews or any kind of promotion, they still did it because they knew it was important but it doesn’t mean that they enjoyed it. They didn’t spend their time concerned about how to get the most followers. They didn’t promote brands or have MTV filming them having some lavish rockstar life. It’s just an attitude that most artists don’t embrace anymore that’s all I’m saying. Didn’t say whether it was good or bad, just saying it was an intriguing difference.

I think they were fantastic all throughout 1989-1994 all in different ways. I will say that I think In Utero was their most evolved album but I tend to listen to Nevermind the most. Each LP was perfect. Bleach was the prefect sound of the time, Nevermind was new, the future, and In Utero was an amalgam, but with hints of what would have been soon to come when he and Stipe got together, or at least that’s how I hear it.

Here in 2021on mine(38th)and Kurt’ birthday 02-20-83 and 02-20-67- I have been a fan since I was 8 in 1991 - wow 30 years gone by fast- I had the fender Cobain signature jag stang guitar(blue)and started playing because of Nirvana. I spent my high school days locked away perfecting all things nirvana and oasis. I can play every Nirvana song still to this day.

*HISTORY IS BEING MADE AND I'M TRYING TO GET THE BARTENDER'S ATTENTION* A fleeting moment. A snap shot. Just another bar band. Just another show. $100 and free beer. An original song with, what? 15 words? 🤣 People in the club screaming in each other's ears because what they have to say is much more important than a no-name band from Aberdeen. "I can't even hear what he's saying... Something about high school?" But they stood on the cusp of graduation. And life was getting ready to hit hard, as it does. Now, two decades later there are millions of us watching a video that could have been lost to obscurity; nodding our heads and whisper/yelling "NO RECESS!" like it's the most meaningful thing we've ever heard. And, who knows? Maybe it is. All work and no play makes us all burn out and fade away. Dammit, Kurt, we miss you, man. We could really use your twisted wisdom right now. You didn't want to be a spokesman for a generation. You didn't want to be our John Lennon. You didn't want to be a martyr. You didn't want greatness thrust upon you. But we really needed someone. I'm sorry it had to be you. But... "Won't you believe it, It's just [your] luck?"

Holy sh#t.... Kurt was so full of spirit and energetic. And somehow he seems happy. Wow, how fame depressed him.
@joejones95203 жыл бұрын
it was drugs that depressed him..he'd achieved the dream, came from nothing and became filthy rich from his own creativity, anyone can cancel out their fame if they really want to. He f'd up big time, he simply wasnt in his right mind from drugs, even Krist says Kurt shouldntve done that..it was a terrible decision, kind of like an intoxicated person jumping into a car and flooring it and crashing into a tree, not in their right mind and sober wouldve never done that.
@kmgiroux Жыл бұрын
Maybe he was somewhat clean, healthy and happy here. More money sometimes equates to worse drug habit. They were probably broke here.
