Pretty neat thing I noticed. At the end of Blew, Kurt drops to the floor (At 43:43). From there, in the front row, you can see his then girlfriend Tracy Marander lean in, about to take a photo. The camcorder then moves over and zooms in on Krist Novoselic, but you can still see the flash go off. That photo became The cover of the Nirvana EP "Blew".

I’m currently reading Mark Lanegan’s memoir, and yesterday I learned that in the early days, such as in this video, Krist was so fed up with everything always having to be Kurt’s way, that he wanted to quit Nirvana and join Screaming Trees. Lanegan was looking for a new bassist at the time, and he was always impressed by his skill, but he talked Krist into sticking with Nirvana because he knew even then that they had something special. Krist was convinced to patch things up with Kurt, and the rest is rock n roll history. Mark Lanegan, the patron saint of Nirvana.

@@vilimbubas1302 Lol, shows what you know about Nirvana...stop talking out your ass. "He [Kurt] told Dave Grohl that he is his best friend and asked him to never leave the band no matter what, because he couldn't do this [the band] without him. Krist shook his head in agreement. Dave Grohl said he would die before that happened and they smiled. Krist Novoselic, Kurt Cobain, and Dave Grohl had a group hug." -Youri Lenquette, who was on the tour bus (1995) "I’m the dude who drove him to the frickin’ hospital, or hanging out with him while he’s puking his guts, and trying to help him. " -Krist on Kurt's stomach problem (2008) "I remember one time they were in my office waiting for Jonathan and Bruce and they were making jokes about why they were making records, they were half-joking, because they never thought it would be possible, but they wanted to buy a chunk of land in the middle of nowhere that was all farm land. And they wanted it to be big enough so Krist and Shelli could have a house built on that land, and Kurt and Tracy wanted a house on the same chunk of property, so they could be neighbors and have these great farmhouses. And they were laughing because they never thought they'd be able to have it. Those two [Kurt and Krist] were inseparable at the time. They were so tight." -Megan Jasper of Sub Pop "Probably this letter I got from Kurt in 1992. That sounds terribly melodramatic, but it's true. I lose everything: passports, wallets, car keys, credit cards, but that letter is absolutely irreplaceable. He wrote it to me when everything was going nuts. We were all living in different places- he was in Los Angeles, I was in Virginia and Krist was in Seattle- and some decisions were being made without me. I got really bummed out and Kurt sent me this letter about my role and stature in the band. It was all, 'I love you like a brother.' -Dave on what he would save from a house fire (Melody Maker) "See I've always wanted male friends that I could be real intimate with and talk about important things with and be as affectionate with that person as I would be with a girl." -Kurt (1993) "Krist was Kurt's best friend - always. The two of them had a connection beyond words. I think they were closer to each other than they were to anybody else." -Dave (2001) "Krist and Kurt had a legendary lifetime connection. Those guys were soulmates. They'd been through so much together, from Aberdeen to the success of 'Nevermind'. They fuckin' shared everything, and they were the kind of friends that didn't have to talk to each other--they just knew." -Dave (2005) "Friendship is one of the biggest things I can think of. Relationships are more important than anything else. I think everyone should go all the way in trying to strengthen their personal relationships. For me, it's very important to have friends who understand your needs and who'll help you in difficult times. The value of friendship is immense, and it should be thought of that way." -Kurt when asked how he values friendship (1991)

@pjackson83222 ай бұрын
Everyone knows he didn't end it by his hand. Don't blame him. Drugs were easy way to cope and it's sad drugs take too many great talents too early. Drugs were there but not the cause for ending it. We're lucky that we have something he and the band left behind for us to enjoy for the rest of our lives.

Wow this goes to show that whatever issues they had with Chad, they cant reasonably claim that his drumming was substandard, unless they had a ridiculously high bar set for how good they wanted their drummer to be! Listen to School for example, or some of those rolls on Negative Creep! Most bands would love to have such a good drummer behind them! Now Dave probably IS better, he is a massively talented individual on all fronts, as we know, but still . . . I think there must have been more pressing reasons why Chad parted ways with the group, he could clearly hold his end up musically.

My son was 5 years old in 1995 when he heard "Heart Shaped Box" being played on the radio (KOME & KSJO) and started singing it all the time. He liked the song so much that he asked me for the album "In Utero" for his Birthday, so I did. Can you imagine ... a 5-year old boy becoming so positively emotionally moved? Damn... I only saw him getting excited about Nirvana's music whenever it was played on the airwaves ... smiling, singing, and jumping around - really Happy. Of course, I'm a major Nirvana fan too. Growing up and later into adulthood my son learned to write and play piano. At that time and at such a young age, Kurt really was a role model for my son musically, and as he grew up helped inspire and encourage him to develop his own artistic talents. We both still listen to and LOVE Nirvana! ... (NOT the ex). Great video! Thanks for posting! 📽 // by Lisa 12/22/22, 12:22pm

Long hair, twin guitars, heavy riffs…a real heavy metal band! Rip Kurt

Nirvana was never a heavy metal band. Heavy, yes.
@humantacos9800 Жыл бұрын
They were more punk with heavy distortion. Soundgarden and AiC were closer to metal but by late 80s you had bands like Deicide, Death, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, etc.

Jason Everman actually looked like he belonged in the band here, which I don't think there is any other footage I've seen that this is the case at all.

Everman is such a badass, rocking the tele here, paying for Bleach and never asking the money back, bassing with Soundgarden, Green Beret in real life. The dude should have a statue for crying out loud.

Great chorus on that song. It’s really cool how it suddenly becomes melodic during the chorus, it contrasts well with the rest of the song which is pretty atonal.
