its far from untouchable lmao. listen to Jerad Letos Kurt Cobain Tribute, Shawn Morgan from Seethers Nirvana Covers, or Ramiro Saavedras Nirvana Covers. they are all 100% identical to kurt plus there are a lot of identical or strikingly similar nirvana tribute bands and i can sound a lot like kurt myself its honestly super easy.
@rileyhedges28362 жыл бұрын
@@Kinseliplier after listening to those to see if ur right, youre wrong, jared leto sounds like jared leto trying to sound like kurt (he doesn a good job but again, no one can get that touch that kurt had) Shawn Morgan had a country accent (at least it sounded like, maybe he was just trying a seatle accent) and had too clean of a voice to sound like kurt, and the ramiro guy was probably the closest, but again it sounds not identical to kurt at all. Ive heard a lot of tribute bands and again, they just sound like guys trying to sound like kurt.
@Tremonti4ever2 жыл бұрын
I’ll disagree, everyone’s opinions vary and every one has their own taste especially when it comes to music but to me in terms of vocal ability he’s at the bottom of the late 80’s/ early 90’s Seattle scene. I’d take Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Scott Weiland, Mark Lanegan AND THAN Kurt Cobain. Now I will say after listening to Mark Lanegan’s memoir “Sing Backwards And Weep” I do have a slightly different and improved opinion on Kurt as a person but musically I still have NEVER understood what all the fuss was about especially when you look at all those other bands who were so much better both in terms of musical talent as far as playing their instruments and in particular in terms of vocalists! Now I do like several Nirvana songs, but I never put them in the top 3-4 of the Seattle scene. Since reading Mark Lanegan’s book I have tried to avoid using the term “grunge” since apparently that was a term they all HATED PASSIONATELY!! I forgot to mention another band whom I prefer over them….Candlebox!!
@Kinseliplier2 жыл бұрын
@@Tremonti4ever 1 have never heard of candlebox but I have heard of every other band you mentioned. 2 Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder both sound a lot like Kurt Cobain and really aren't that different and both of their hands have very similar sound to Nirvana and in the 90s a lot of those Seattle bands sounded the same. So that's not really much of a comparison.
@Tremonti4ever2 жыл бұрын
@@Kinseliplier If you think Chris Cornell or Eddie Vedder sound ANYTHING like Kurt Cobain than I can’t do anything to help you! They sound ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE HIM IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, or FORM! Not to mention you can’t really compare those bands to anyone else because it would be apples to oranges. You say it’s “not much of a comparison…” am I supposed to compare Cobain to James Hetfield or Myles Kennedy? The Seattle bands and that whole era was a different sound and in fact a different genre all together, comparing them to anyone BUT EACH OTHER would be stupid.

happy? damn, kurt would be really disappointed in people who comment and say that he was happy in here. if u knew kurt u would know that that smile is the most ironic smile of all the time, its a smile that points out his realization of how his music became mainstream, i mean the lyrics of teen spirit literally talks about in the chorus he mock his fans' attitude. teen spiritt ends up being a bunch of teenage fans that expect to be entertained. kurt feels the pressure of this demand, and he is cynical about the selfish desires that underlie fandom. i bet he hated playing the song once he saw what he became i mean he even skipped the solo lmao

It's all dreary until Kurt looks like he's happy to be alive. I'm a recent fan, by the way. I feel a little embarrassed to admit that I only really took the time to listen to Nirvana when someone turned Nevermind into the SM64 soundfont, but, after that.... I'm a fan for life. As an adult now, I can look at things more objectively, and Kurt Cobain is such a gentle soul, even when it's not at first glance. I wish I was better at not listening to one song over and over(not S.L.T.S., just others and the whole album), but it makes me feel more connected to think Kurt would've appreciated people like me who try to listen to all of a band's music. I like to imagine he'd "like me more" and so forth, but if I got to know him, I'd want to know the Kurt Cobain that was interviewed in front of the Seattle cityscape(one of his last). I'd also be too surprised that he didn't like me for being too much of a square.

I used to watch The Word back in tbe 90s and saw lots of good bands on there I'd already heard of, Faith no more, L7, Dinosaur Junior ect then one day a band I'd never heard of were playing their first ever television debut of their new song called Smells like teen sprit. It was from that moment on I became a Nirvana fan. Never had I seen such intensity in a musical performance and they way the singer was screaming seemed to reach right into my soul and its been there ever since. I love you Kurt. If only you knew how much we love and miss you. You're still so loved and I wish with all my heart I could tell you this and that you changed my life for the better and I will always be grateful to you for that and your invaluable contribution to music. You truly were a force to be reckoned with and I wish you were here because the world needs you. If only my dreams would come true that you're not dead you've just been living far away from all human contact and now you're ready to return and soothe our souls and blow our minds once more like only you can

As someone who's been training as a vocalist, fairly relentlessly over the past 15 years, I can tell you that Kurt really was one of a kind, or else, part of a very, very exclusive group. Very unique, very difficult to emulate. Hell of a sound. It's hard to appreciate if you haven't been trying for the past decade and I've got serious oral infrastructure. I can do some Nirvana songs, but not this one, this ballad for the disenfranchised youth, is one that's out of reach to most.

@@ScottishTeeVee I just re-read the "Come As You Are" book recently, and it said one of Cobain's first bands included CCR covers that he sang. The "About A Son" movie soundtrack also includes a CCR song - I've not yet watched the movie (will do so at some point), but presumably it references CCR since they are included in the soundtrack.

It was late 1991 in a club called "Line Club" in Braunschweig/Germany when i first heard this song. It was unbelievable. Never ever had this feeling before hearing a song for the first time. It directly blew me away. Asking the DJ: who is playing this? I HAVE TO KNOW IT! No one was talking about "Nirvana" at this time. It exploded a few weeks later when "Smells like ...." was spreading like a virus. Shortly after i bought the "Nevermind" Album. This is one of the most heard albums of my collection Still kickin' today when i hear it. Gose bumbs immediately...always thinking back to those days. Great times. So sad Kurt ends his life. So good Dave is still alive and kickin' ! Greetings from germany....

I had a similar experience except I was in Louisiana at my university and I can show you the exact traffic light I was stopped at when this song came on and proceeded to blow my mind. After recently commenting to one of my buddies about how horrible rock had gotten (Warrant's Cherrie Pie was the example I used) and saying something has got to give. And less than two weeks later I'm at that traffic light hoping the DJ would say who the band was that was that had me cranking my car stereo to the max and headbanging in the middle of a little intersection by our campus. And he did name them and I immediately went and bought Bleach and Nevermind. My favorite band ever since. Later I got to see them at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans for the In Utero tour in December of '93. Four months later he was dead. I was stunned. P.S. I believe the evidence is clear- Kurt didn't end his life, it was ended for him because of a pre-nup, a pending divorce and $50 million motives.

God I miss you dropping headlines and new songs Kurt. I just.. I miss you existing in the same world the rest of us exist in 😢. You'll always be missed and mourned by those of us who experienced the phenom that was "Nirvana" . You are even beloved by the new generation of young people who never had the same opportunity to live "Nirvana" and experience your impact on the music industry and social growth. You have made new fans and followers of Nirvana even from the grave and that is something pretty special imo. Rest in peace Mr Kurt Cobain. You are part of my most cherished memories from my youth and my childhood. Perhaps i have such a special place in my heart for you because you passed away one week after my big brother passed away. I have cherished memories of our time together watching MTV after school and at night & on the weekends . Another great that I miss may be less significant but he impacted my childhood all the same... Kurt Loder MTV News.. he's the man that broke the news to us about your passing away. I'll forever remember exactly what that felt like. Rest in peace Kurt. I pray that you found the happiness in your afterlife that you could never find while you were still here on earth with us 😢.
