What I find amazing about this, is how smooth the stopmotion was for the time

For our times either. I am an animation student myself, however, i can't imagine how it was done. Like it's not a clay i suppose, rather looks like wood in some shots. Or like how was the skirt done?

@@haleysmith7958Well actually they had to use several different body movements and many different head replacements.

Yes for the last section, because the song was taking place in 1930s Harlem. Watch some of the old videotunes from 30s. Also don't forget the first section shows Latinos.

To be fair, George Pal, who was born in Europe, had no idea that the blackface portrayal of African Americans was considered offensive. Ironically, George Pal had great admiration over African Americans and their culture. Thus, when he eventually did discover how offensive blackface was, he was quite shocked about it. After this, George did his best to implement changes to any Puppetoons featuring African Americans to make them portrayed more accurately and less offensive. One of these Puppetoon shorts was an adaption of the folk story of John Henry called "John Henry and the Inky Poo."
@coleparker Жыл бұрын
These are not real people, they are wooden Puppets. So there is no blackface.
