idk if flash faeries runs it, but it was technically possible for the opponent to survive the alpha strike with a lucky march of swirling mists off the top to phase out the attackers

i dont know how others feel about it but me personal i would rather see this deck even its not a tier 1 deck compete in the ladder and maybe see more defeats but playing against meta decks and how it performs in ranked ladder more interesting then playing against starter decks etc.

Ideally the matchmaking finds decks with roughly the same powerlevel, but it’s far from perfect. The discrepancy in power between the top cards and the rest is just very high at the moment. Hoping the upcoming B&R announcement will shake things up.

I feel the exact opposite. I find it far more entertaining to see this kind of gimmicky deck against other gimmicky decks (maybe not starter decks which I agree are a little boring) than see it get smashed repeatedly by meta decks. Luca's pretty good about telling us how good a deck is in the meta anyway.

I would love to play this deck, but it would suck up most of my wildcards and it does look like it would be boring to play pretty quickly. It looks fun in short bursts, but since I have to be really picky about how to use my wildcards, I'd prefer to play a deck that has more interactions and can be tweaked further down the line. This is just green smash. Also fun on occasion, but not the thing I want to be playing indefinitely.

Why do you think WotC seems reluctant to reprint Llanowar Elves or comparable G for a ramp creature into Standard these days? Were those effects too strong, or is there something about the current texture of Standard that would make them too strong? It feels like with green being widely regarded as the weakest color in Standard, it may provide a helpful boost in mana accerelation.

These cards have at all points been format warping. Green was good for the whole standard rotation the last time we had elvish mystic. Maybe it wouldn't be too much right now, but they are always very careful with these effects

@@daniellugosi The last Standard it was in, Monogreen Stompy was certainly a deck, but it wasn't what I would call "format warping". It was competitive, so it had an impact on the format, but it was by no means an outlier that disallowed other decks.

@@WobblezTheWeird Of course it's powerful, but we've always had powerful effects in Standard, even at 1 mana. I feel it's reasonable to think that, given the current state of Standard, having a single 1-mana ramp creature that doesn't require set up could be what green needs to compete. If not, I'm unconvinced it would be enough to damage the balance or really push the power level of Standard.

Holy snap, green has been so bad in standard for like at least 1 year or more. This deck goes up to the casual -59 on that one game = nice. Honestly as I'm so tired of mono-red, soldiers or mono-white aggro, I hope WotC makes it so green is more competitive and overall challenge the top tier meta decks.
