This is a fantastic video. Thank you so much. Took me about an hour to fix the switch. I didn’t replace anything. I just bent the clip. Best wishes for 2025!!

I bought a shifter position switch (about $20 on Amazon b/c Nissan does not sell this without a much more costly shifter full assembly), and got it done in a few hours. Appreciate your step-by-step. Thank you

I just took my car to have it looked at for this exact issue. I had no idea there was a manual bypass. I was quoted 1700 for the replacement of the entire assembly. I asked if they could replace just the micro switch and they said "no because it's soldered onto the motherboard". Having worked as an engineer in electronics, this peaked my interest as maybe something I could fix myself. Turns out they either had no clue what they were talking about or were just trying to rip me off. Either way, I'm so glad I came across this video.

You are not too old to have a lot of experience on points and condensors, but the contacts on switches of today still need filing to remove some carbon buildup and some burned/arched rough surfaces that acts like velcro and electrical contact treatment to help them to last longer. As for myself, I am ok with bending the lever but I would have filed with special files, very fine, and treated the switch contacts as well with deoxit or stabilant 22. Thank you for the DIY FIX in Part 1, lets see whats in Part 2?

This is unnecessary for this issue. I opened my micro switch to day and it had no carbon and it's rated for 125v, which is 10 times the working voltage. The issue and fix was exactly what he showed in the video. Lever is not getting pressed enough
