Those ABB chargers probably had broken handle thermostat or cable cooling, so it only charges at whatever amps 31 KW is. It’s a common issue with the Always Be Broken chargers 😂

ABB is literally always broken. Never had a single ABB charger in Germany which worked fully. :D Shell only uses that crap, but I guess they don't want customers, EU pays nonetheless. I just avoid every charger from Efacec, ABB and EvBox. Luckily those are literally not in use except form Shell and Total but you don't need those shit networks.

Now I wonder. With 39kWh Kona I've had some charging sessions with ~41kW and some with ~32kW. The latter ones weren't running the heatpump for cooling the battery (one can hear the difference), they were only running the fan (it was in colder times). I've thought that the 9kW was actually pulled by the heatpump and it always puts that 32kW into the battery, but now I'm not sure. Maybe it was this kind of broken ABB charger and the car decided it doesn't _need_ the cooling because of the lower power.

Depending on the settings if you leave the car it locks automatically if you come back it unlocks the car and then it stops charging i had this also a couple of time i hope it is something they change it is a bit annoying. Not sure if it is a bug or by design.

It’s a worth noting that drag (the force) isn’t the same as ‘drag coefficient’. Drag coefficient can only be compared where the cross section is the same. I feel the drag coefficient is becoming the next 0-100 - which is not a very useful metric when taking out of context but manufacturers & journalists love citing. It’s also becoming a handy trick to make SUVs seem efficient…

Seems like an OK car, but I think Nissan really needed something special to redeem themselves after holding on to a 2011 EV for over a decade. Realistically, this is a car that should have come out in 2018. I like the flat charging curve, that’s more useful than a big peak number for like 10% and then it drops like a rock. Just wish it would hold that 115kw to like 60%. It wouldn’t be an issue if the car was more efficient, but 200km from full before needing to charge is pretty bad for a battery that size. I also appreciate that they decided to make the car comfortable rather than falling into the “sporty” trap that so many new cars do. Literally nobody actually wants a “sporty” SUV, and they definitely don’t want a crashy ride like Mach-E or Model Y.

@Wasssup3232
@Wasssup3232 Жыл бұрын
E pedal isn’t broken, it was a choice by the engineers to prevent full 1 pedal driving. Not sure why since it seems popular but according to surveys of leaf owners, overwhelmingly they responded that they did not like the fact that it would stop the car and it made them uncomfortable. I just wish they left it as a toggle for 1 pedal driving
@fintrollpgr
@fintrollpgr Жыл бұрын
@@Wasssup3232 I don' t know who they asked. I heard of some people leaving it off because they do not understand how it works. Stupid complaints like the regen is too strong because they take their foot off the pedal completely... As such there was no reason to break/remove the functionality as it is not really different from regular regen now. Personally I think it is idiocy on the level of not fixing the battery cooling on second gen Leafs... E-pedal was one of the main reasons why despite that I went for a Leaf. And as long as they do not restore the most comfortable and economical way of driving I will look elsewhere for a Leaf replacement.

Hi bjorn, I am a Japanese, and big fan of you. Just Like you, I already did 1000km challenge with Ariya 63kWh in Japan. As a result, I could only demonstrate 46kW with all the fast chargers and the result was scattered. Nissan has since officially announced that if you fast charge from more than SOC 95%, the charging output will show the behavior of limiting to 46kW. As a solution to this problem, Nissan has also proposed that the problem can be reset by turning off the power for more than 5 minutes. If the same behavior exists in the European version, it would explain why all fast chargers were limited to exactly 90 kW this time. Also, I found in thelast charging session, the behavior of the charging output slowly decreasing from 93 kW after the short sleeping break would also make sense if the power had been turned off for more than 5 minutes. In the introductory part of your 1000 km challenge, did you use fast charging from about SOC 95% to full charge? If you could do 1000km challenge again, ・do you not fast charge from about SOC 95%? ・If you are fast charging more than 5 minutes after turning off the power, does it unlock the 90kW limiting behavior? It might be a good idea to check these two points. Thanks.

Hello EV, can you find out if there is also some "logic" in programming of the charging scheme of the LEAF e+? I have acess to a 50kW charger where I can restart Chademo charging within 1-5 seconds (depending on me and as often as I want) several times and the LEAF e+ does NOT reduce charging speed. Can you ask Nissan? Thanks.

This is what i call an honest car. It's reasonable prized, it does the things you'd expect right, it has acceptable limitations and does not force you to make flawed compromises. And this is my problem with many VAG cars, VW in particular. I think VW, they do us dirty these days. Some of their cars realy do look quite nice from the outside but once you open the doors it becomes a sobering experience fast - hard plastics everywhere, a pathetic cockpit, no innovations in the interior what so ever....The price tag on the other hand....

The Leaf is terrible at the 1000km challenge, because the batteries don't have active thermal management, so they constantly overheat after your first fast charge... When bjorn tested the 62kwh leaf, it took him 15.5 hours for the 1000km challenge... Some charging stops it would not charge any faster than AC charging, cus the batteries were overheated.

Everyone always think they're sticking it it to the EV guys. One day when EVs become even more mainstream we'll see laws against this and police out writing tickets or having these idiots towed. Treat that like a handicap space and charge $100 or more and that will stop them from parking their hunks of junk there.

I've been seeing ecoflow sponsoring some KZbinrs, shortly after I see Bjorn buys it for testing , hmmmmm coincidence? maybe uncle Bjorn is hoping to get some sponsorship from them too :D I mean a baby and a new house cost a lot....just kidding, hope you get them as your sponsors

Not needed. I already bought the EcoFlows. And I already have enough sponsors. Just take a look in the beginning of the video.

Its a shame for all BEVs to need a power station to toast bread. Any BEV should have a power supply inside the car and V2device. Well done Kia, Hyundai, Genesis.

Most Chinese EVs also have V2L.

My wife and I drove the top of line 2WD Ariya and we didn't like it. The interior is very plasticky in a waxy and cheap way. You can hear the cost-savings when Bjørn opens and closes the glove boxes. They are quiet but rather boring. The sound system is certainly better than that boring and weak Meridian sound system in the Kia EV6.

I love your reviews man, but I fail to understand the hype for EVs atm. One would get an estimated 300 miles from a decent EV. But that is the claimed range. Then you go real life and go down maybe 10 %. Then you want to keep your battery pack "happy" and don't charge 100% but keep it to 80-85%, so again...less range. Then you probably take a highway and go 120-130 km/h (instead of 90km/h) and your range drops some more. And maybe it's wintertime and the range decreases some more. And then you plan your longer trips carefully because the chargers are not as many as the fossil pumps (yet). And when you arrive at your suggested charging station, you realize that not all are in good working condition, or there are no superchargers, or you have to wait after some fossil cars occupying your spot, or whatever. Anyway, you spend a lot more time refueling. And ofc you should leave in a house, not an apartment (not feasible) and probably have some sort of renewable energy in place (maybe some solar panels), which is another story (and some more money). The EVs cost a lot more money than ICE cars, the KWh price is going up (see the biggest scam in EU atm - privatization and liberalization of the energy sector under the false promise that this would lead to greater efficiency, lower consumer prices, and a decarbonized economy). Last but not least...EVs are not that green in the end (production, battery not so recyclable, rare metals and stuff). Unless there's a battery breakthrough/revolution all this it's just ...LOL.

Looks to me like this car is not ready for sale. That user interface is ugly and very badly organized. It keeps turning itself off too. Meh

In japan, the Ariya cost 5k USD more than as a model Y 🫠 Considering resell value, sadly tesla still best choice for now.

Soon there is as a Tesla in every street corner. Would be nice to have something different. Strange pricing though, here it is the other way around.
