All the Tesla fan boy comments here complaining about an unfair comparison seem to miss out on the fact that the Ariya is an SUV. A Model 3 Perfomance is more efficient than the Model Y LR which would be a more logical comparison car against the Ariya.

Model 3 Performance has a highway EPA rating of 107 MPGe, where the Model Y LR is 117 MPGe.

@@Jaredscott89 M3P beats MYLR in Teslabjørns 120 kmh range test, even with larger tires. Only when MYLR has caps on it can match it.

@@thorsev6960 I'm referring to a scientific controlled test that is reliable and repeatable. Model Y LR is more efficient than the Model 3 Performance, and it makes absolute sense. Sorry if that doesn't fit your wants, but facts are facts and Bj's tests aren't scientific.
@thorsev69602 жыл бұрын
@@Jaredscott89 Teslabjörn does control variables in his test, so you can call it scientific. EPA also allows wiggle room in each testing so there's really no way to know what Tesla decided to do with each model. The Model 3 Performance is more efficient than the Model Y LR according to WLTP, but I guess that doesn't suit your narrative?
@Jaredscott892 жыл бұрын
@@thorsev6960 No it is not scientific. Its a good attempt for an amateur, but that is it, has nothing on an official test cycle. You don't understand the drive cycle test for highway if you think they allow wiggle room. Given you haven't offered the relevant WLTP number, I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest you either don't have it or don't understand what I said. If you want to prove something, supply data, like I did, otherwise you are pointless.
Am I understanding this correctly, the Ariya (FWD, 63 kWh usable) is more efficient than the Model 3 Performance at highway speeds? :O

Yes, it is correct.
@thorsev69602 жыл бұрын
@@evsmart WTF! That's pretty amazing considering the Ariya has a pretty poor drag coefficient (average at best), especially compared to the Model 3. Must boil down to incredibly efficient drivetrain. I'm getting the 87 kWh usable, FWD version in August and also own a 2020 Model 3 LR, I will need to do a similar test!
